I do also believe they are wrong to put new product launches back into next year. It is naive especially with this govt chopping and changing to expect travel testing to last until next year with all the media pressure to scrap PCR. They might well be caught with their pants down with nothing to sell shortly. This is one reason they are a bit reluctant to trumpet covid sales as they know it won't be lasting too long.

yes, it is only paper talk right now. Sajid Javid says 'he wants to get rid of PCR tests as soon as he possibly can'. He also says he's 'not going to make the decision right now'.
Of course we all want to scrap these tests asap but whilst there is still a pandemic then that might be difficult. I think the papers are just putting pressure on the govt to scrap testing.

agreed Frankie. There is talk of using useless LFt instead. Now that is asking for trouble imo. How will they track any variants without PCR tests? Any loss of travel testing lab capacity for Ygen will hopefully be used for govt work.
At the moment it's all paper talk, so we will see what transpires.

Coop, it won't be £50 a test for the travel sector, even less for any govt work imo. I reckon they can knock these out for £20-£25 each .

Lion, they probably were under a NDA until numbers were officially announced through govt channels like has now happened. The govt need to announce first that's all, they couldn't do it at the time.

for me this is just a stepping stone for more lucrative contracts with the UK govt. If they perform well then I can see plenty more to come post covid. Can't wait to hear who these big US outfits are too. All to be revealed soon..at last!!

Another big thing for me is that it's nothing to do with the travel sector. I see many in the travel sector are wanting all PCR testing to be scrapped, which is absolute madness if it happens imo.

LR mentions 3 year contracts in the last video. So maybe there is more to come, and longer term too.

I know the tenders asked for a minimum daily capacity of 10k.. Not sure if that is what is in this contract though.

Frankie, if you mean 'On the beach' travel firm they are only subsidising upto £1.5m worth for this calendar year. . When it's gone it's gone. Others might join in though.
