Here is the results of my sleuthing.
I knew I would not find much on use of Affimers to identify Covid-19, as that is what Avacta says they are working on, or have developed, depending on which of the two statements in the last RNS you believe.

So here is an article concerning the hunt for the Zika virus, relevant because it uses Affimers to succeed.

Completely agree with you Hants, there are a number of posters on other boards who are confusing this
Affimer test with an Antibody test.

I can imagine this product being used to check persons entering place of work, trains,
metro, taxis, airplanes cinema's theatres, meetings etc.

..Might be needing more than $1bn though.

As fast as toilet roll hants, surely not faster.

So as the CEO is quoted as saying the end of May for developing Affimer reagents, I'm going to say the CEO is hedging his bets, and wants to give the company wriggle room, and so expectation is (currently) set at end of May.

But because the RNS also says "Avacta is already generating Affimer reagents that detect the COVID-19 virus", then IMO behind the scenes he has developed a Mark one Affimer reagent.
For me they have let the cat out of the bag with both statements in the one RNS.

The RNS also states:

"Hundreds of millions of tests will be needed for population screening and we will be working hard to deliver an Affimer based solution on Cytiva's platform, POTENTIALLY ON THE PLATFORMS OF OTHER PARTNERS WITH WHOM WE ARE IN ACTIVE DISCUSSION, as soon as possible. We are aiming to have developed Affimer reagents for a COVID-19 test by the end of May that can be transferred to Cytiva AND POTENTIALLY TO OTHER GLOBAL DIAGNOSTIC MANUFACTURERS to implement in a test strip".

One of the reasons the CEO has stated end of May for Affimer development might be that this timescale allows for accomplishing more than just testing Affimer with Cytiva.
Such as Affimer testing "POTENTIALLY ON THE PLATFORMS OF OTHER PARTNERS WITH WHOM WE ARE IN ACTIVE DISCUSSION", once those potential pharma have signed up.

So I expect the next few RNS's to be similar to the last, - just delete Cytiva, & insert the next pharma.

It has to be this way if an incredible amount of Affimer tests are made available globally ASAP.

Alistair Smith must be very confident.

Can anybody quote any research please that verifies which of the above statements within the same RNS is true.

After buying Qiagen, how much appetite is there for another buyout.
Would buying Novacyt invalidate the recent decision to buy Qiagen?
I think they are more likely to buy a %age, - enough to get board representation - That might suite their needs better.

It means that the Primerdesign Ltd COVID-19 genesig® Real-Time PCR Assay can be used on a Qiagen platform, so it opens up the possibility that those labs using Qiagen kit can use our test kit, so our customer base just got a whole lot larger.

donno - In order to answer the 'does it speed up the results' question, we need to refer to the Primerdesign support desk.
The other question is how many concurrent test can the Qiagen platform perform concurrently.
One of the Bruker-Hain platforms only tested 12 tests at a time!)

Now see page 2 Extraction Platforms , and see that this column has been updated to include two platforms including Bruker-Hain and Quiagen platforms.

Neither equipment was true when the original EUA was granted on 03.20.2020.

Now that Primerdesign are to partner with the big guys at the new Cambridge laboratory,
I am hoping we can get the assay for the LAMP equipment as well as the qPCR assay on the agenda there. Not many seem to realise that the success that is evident with the qPCR assay is possibly repeatable
if the LAMP technology is of interest to PHE / Govnt, or any other foreign health authorities.
To supply an Assay, they will be turning to Primerdesign who provided the original assay. What I am getting at with the LAMP technology, is that the assay for this test could also be provided by Primerdesign,
now that the link up with AZ and GSK is established.
The two assays do not use common chemicals I believe, but will need to double check this.
News from Optigene should be with us soon of their consultation with PHE and Govnt concerning
use of their Genie HT LAMP instrument to process 300 tests / hr.

I'm not happy with maximising sales of one assay, I want to make money out of two, but to do so LAMP technology interest needs to be ignited. BOOM - as they say in day trading circles.

Also:

Adding London and Paris trading volumes today, was way in excess of half of all the company issued shares (68m)

So, as many shares are in very sticky fingers, the rest got traded many many times today.
