I remember a few years ago Philip Green bid £4 for Marks and spencer. This was rejected by the board. too low.
Marks today? 132p!
Hate to bring a touch of reality to proceedings, but the BOD should have let us decide! Not them!

From my broker this morning.
The market has already foreseen this as the price is now below the level before the bid. RESPONSE: While THG is clearly aware of the macro-economic challenges, the Company continues to perform well, and in line with its own expectations.

I agree. 170p bid. The share wasn’t exactly 169p and waiting for an increased offer.
I have always been of the opinion that MM will bid to take it private. He can now pay something like 185 and say that he’s the best bid in town.
Obviously the shares will be down in the morning. But I don’t think anything has changed from what we all basically thought.
Maybe a surprise bid from someone else or the Candyman does turn out to be genuine? But I don’t think so.

I don’t know if you’re aware, but this stock IPO’d at £5 and things have gone swimmingly ever since.
And if you’ve been monitoring the trades, you would have noticed that buys far outweigh sells.
Next stop £8!

The SP is saying no further bids coming. Agreed.
The problem is, two bidders would not walk away if they were genuine. So when no bid emerges, the city won’t be impressed. They’ll think share manipulation, poor corporate governance, boardroom shenanigans, etc. Coupled with an unpopular CEO All of these make the stock uninvestable.

The company is valued at 103p.
Obviously some people think it’s value will increase over time. Some people think the company is going bankrupt. But right now the value is 103p per share.
The size of the free float is irrelevant.

I think you’re right. I suppose an extension is the best we can hope for.
Not happy, I was hoping to that we (me) would be put out of our misery once and for all.

Well. Nothing is coming out on Thursday. Everyone can now see that. The question is what happens then?
I’m assuming the SP drops on disappointment. Even on this board a few people are still hoping for something.
Algos get to work, leveraged PIs have to sell.
So back to the lows, I assume.
Then MM comes in with a lowball bid to take it private.
“Saving the small investor” and he gets all the upside.
Allen gets his contract paid off.

I have no doubt that THG is a good company with a good future.
I just think that the city hates Matt, there is no IR or corporate governance to speak of.
Therefore it is uninvestable. As a shareholder, unless MM takes it private, there is little upside.
All his latest shenanigans of getting his two mates to make lowball bids only adds to the “flim flam”
Allen seems to be there for the paycheque. He should be putting a stop to this.

I thought this Allen bloke was supposed to put a halt to MM’s shenanigans.

It’s a disgrace that the 170p bid was rejected by the board without giving shareholders the chance to accept it.
I suppose that was the deal that MM did with his mate, in order to get him to bid.

When I suggested that the maximum take out price would be 200-250p, everyone slated me. Quoting fair value, IPO price, small float, revenue multiples, and other pie-in-the-sky reasons that a bid of £5+ was reasonable. I got slated for implying that they were delusional.
Now, we are dreaming that a £2 bid comes to fruition.

I’m just concerned that if no bid materialises, and that’s what it’s looking like, all the people that bought in for the bid, such as Richard Griffiths, will be looking to sell. The algos wil be emboldened as there will be no bid risk, and the SP will really crap out.
That is why I say pray that a bid does indeed emerge.

By your own admission (9 down 11 up) you seem to have a more or less 50% success rate.
So your 5 year strategy enables you to break even.

But for every one of those, there's 100 that never make a profit.
