The longer term4 Mar 2020 07:51
There was an interesting interview on Radio 4 this morning with a chap from L&G. As the largest pension provider in the UK, and as one of the largest investors in the UK, he was not worried in the slightest about coronavirus, or the latest stock market volatility. He made the point that the UK economy is actually doing pretty well and that they have no concerns over the longer period.
He also made the point that the UK has underinvested in infrastructure over the last 30 years and the government now needs to loosen the strings and play catch up. He saw this as very good for investors long term. he specifically mentioned the need to invest in, and the desirability of investing in, green products.
it is firms like L&G who will direct investment away from fossil fuels towards companies like AFC. If we LTHs start to think longer term (and for AFC I mean at least a year, not day-to-day) the future looks very rosy and our collective blood pressure might fall.
