We can say a lot about Boris, what he has / hasn’t done…. but compared to many other countries and current opposition I think he’s made the right decision about not locking us down further. Whoever we have in government will never please everyone…. From thatcher, John Grey, golden Flash Gordon brown, Liar Blair, dodgy Dave… Until we have Emilia Clarke, mother of dragons, then we’ll never get what we all want….

The media will be scaremongering for years to come, always quoting worse case scenarios and finding a Hungarian scientist that says we’re all doomed. How about everyone stops driving, walking, breathing….god forbid we catch a cold or talk about other old issues such as smoking. Cigarette smoking is still one of the leading preventable risk factors for premature mortality worldwide , killing more than 8 million people a year, including users and non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke. … not forgetting they are more at risk from COVID and putting health services under strain. Why don’t we show daily addictions, deaths and hospital admissions?

Well had the decision made for me… my auto sell kicked in and sold half.

The actual problem is that all sides play point scoring political games supported by their respective media counterparts at the expense of swinging public opinion and personal gain. Boris will argue snow is green, starmer will says it’s blue, Nicola will say / do the opposite of Westminster to just show she’s independent… parliament questions and the constant bickering is akin to Sesame Street for embryos.

Surely, drip feeding a little news here and there would help keep investors stay interested, keep SP above the water line and result in less selling? I know I’m simplifying the complex workings of the LSE … but come on STX…. Dangle a fresh carrot at least …

Hmm… now, I’m sure that no CEO’s intentionally go public and drop the market for personal gain.. ;-)

Quite a fair response from Boris… travel, retail and leisure not being stopped. . Worst case scenario is that we’re still in a much better position than we was last year, we can improve the vaccine within a month or so, we all keep getting vaccinated and have to wear face masks for a little longer. Only wish they’d change the name of the virus to something less menacing…. Maybe ‘flower pot’ :-))

The pharmaceuticals manufacturer Novavax has begun work on a new version of its Covid-19 vaccine, aimed at targeting the Omicron variant. It says it hopes the vaccine will be ready for testing and manufacturing within a matter of weeks.

Other vaccine companies have also been optimistic about their ability to counter any potential new challenges posed by the variant.

BioNTech says it could produce and ship an updated version of its vaccine within 100 days if the new Covid variant detected in southern Africa is found to evade existing immunity.

And AstraZeneca says it is already conducting research in Botswana and Eswatini, where the variant has been identified, to collect real-world data on how its shot performs against the new variant.

Moderna has also said it will develop a booster shot for the new variant.
