For sure, if this next update isn’t any good then many, like myself, will simply sell up and move on. I’ll just go without a few extra holidays when I retire. The carrot dangling in front of my nose is becoming full of maggots.
Pro - our issue isn’t necessarily the long term performance, but always the lack of communications from the STX management. They just seem happy to take our money, leak news to their family and friends and never keep us updated or provide any reassurance. If I had that, then I wouldn’t have reduced my stake and invested elsewhere until momentum starts to grow. This isn’t the only AIM l’m invested in but certainly has the worse communications.
I bought in when the SP was much higher and company being in much worse shape. This a AIM stock and hence the added risk. Fundamentals are still here, and with a lower SP, business has leaky comms but the investors still have confidence, compounded by increase in revenue, better market share and now more financial visibility following arrival of new CFO (hopefully). One of the best punts on LSE to be fair. If I took notice of all the doomsayers I would have lost many of my investments! Do real investors really hang around forums that they have no interest in? Dyor, all the best with this opportunity!
I dont like what they’ve done and suspected a leak earlier this month. However, the price is low enough to take a punt and the product is still good but some serious questions need to be asked at the presentation.
All bad news priced in… believe we reached the bottom and should now be looking at £1+ . There will certainly be headwinds, as with all stock, but they are confident enough to keep the Div and sure it’ll be a good stock to keep in the back pocket.
I’ve purchased over 20 pairs of docs over the last 30’years. From memory, each pair where the sole has split / come away was made outside of the UK. The label in a few stipulate Vietnam. I agree with Slomo that it appears they may not be investing too well in providing good foreign quality control.
In my case, when the sole first start splitting I took it to the shop and the assistant advised that he saw a lot of them being returned for that reason and simply replaced them. I was happy that they was aware and didn’t quibble. Several splits later in more recent shoes. Customer services no longer let me return them or even provide a discount from future products . Some was marginally outside the 12 month warranty but only a calculated 15-20 hours of usage.
The reason I’m saying all of this is that i’m worried about problems in there core business. IF docs, or any other company, don’t provide proper due care, own issues and provide good customer service then it’s very easy for them to lose their USP and become like any other brand surviving on lower margins I hope I’m wrong.
I need to see some confidence before reinvesting..
After spending nearly 5 years in here, I’ll be holding out for much higher than 18p! Nearer £1.. Just shoved it in the bottom drawer with all my other punts and socks. Don’t care now if I wait until retirement or just leave the pennies as a legacy to a charity / relatives for them to decide. I still have faith…
Agree shareholder,
Tem - having a 50% sale doesn’t really mean anything. Many companies do the same. Great opportunity for SDRY to renew stock in time for the new year.
Also reading about people referring to relations not buying SDRY clothes anymore. My daughter loves it. i don’t buy M&S clothes but that means nothing Just wish I got M&S shares a couple of years ago. I’ve certainly reinvested in SDRY today… nice punt.
As painful as it is I’ve bought more at 7.5…. Guess I may as well use the opportunity to lower my average (hopefuly). There’s some good points written on here and I do feel a little better. We are in a better ‘confirmed’ position than July when we was last down at this level. Just hope he comes across well and reassuring later today…..
I’ve been invested for a long time, average is remains quite high but I’m confident that the company has legs… however, I’m really fed up with obvious back street dealing and corruption. Always seems more common in AIM.
Well, if there has been a leak which just so happens to mirror a poor report then I for one will be dropping them a strongly worded letter asking for an investigation… but hopefully it won’t be necessary and it’s just been a case of lemmings following lemmings and sheep following sheep baaaaa
