The key here is the new appointment and what NvS has said:

as NvS said, in one of his interviews, the new finds are the greatest that is. there are no other alternatives in this world to the ore deposits already existing.
Tax hike already accounted for by Zambia producers, it resulted in 10% drop in revenue for producers and the government alike. good achievement from political economics!! this is not going to have any significant impact on the copper mines.

Zambia taxes will have an impact on the value of selling assets there for certain as the producers will try to avoid the marginal areas where cost is very close to revenue, but they still be able to make a profit on the main deposits. This is why the production there has droped by 100000 tons this year as the producers are more choosy as to where to collect the ore.

the whole political environment is poor partly due to trade war between trump and the rest of the world. This situation is not going to continue for long. This is what drives the poor performance of small cap explorer companies. large company will hopefully soon fined the appetite to buy new ventures. and supply more cash to small companies.

selling bad assets is subject to their position in the market and the obligation of the mother company. sturec consumed 13 million of the company money then, before the rule prohibiting the use of cyanide. now we are in another era. what ever sturec will brig to the table that is a bonus. the focus here is on casa and the copper mines. Yes, I agree china. NvS, committed a sin by not using areal survey first in kalaba exploration to decide his priorities. This is why he lost face and he feels right now he has to deliver the right thing rather than drip feeding the market with any news. I guess he is quiet sure now the new targets will deliver. having said that I am still thinking kalaba will recover its costs and some profit as well. It is just a part of the whole picture.

It seems that the second worst economy after Zimbabwe 'Zambia' is learning from Mr Mugabe choice of privatization of gold mines by allowing individuals to get whatever gold they can lay their hands on. But copper is another matter. No single individual will be able to mine copper and sell it to any source. copper is cheap, massive and need complex processing and know how. So what is the chance of privatization of copper for Zambia government? zero?? This is what happens when politicians meddle with economics. Everyone of them seem to think he know enough to be a revolutionary. No worry. it is just a scare mongering they will come to terms with production rules.
