JMAX.... a while back I gave you the benefit of the doubt as you said you're a long time holder..... but HELL NO..... you're a blatant shorter..... every time there's a positive post you feel the need to make us aware of the downside...... just for balance of course....just so no one gets carried away of course....

Fair enough and anything is possible, but I think we won't be going back to the 40's. Not with $90 oil anyway. Just remember that Shell and BP are going to be announcing massive profits for 2021 this coming week. Can't see the markets ignoring oil shares anymore in light of that. I think we're going to have a good week. Possibly getting over 60 again, but hey....I really am no expert.

Sandyr1 has pointed out why. In the January update this week:

"A material hedge portfolio protects c.75% of forecast sales volumes to May 2023 and 50% from May 2023 to May 2024."

The key is "forecast sales". Tullow has to hedge as part of the refinancing terms. Why would you forecast high numbers, thus forcing yourself to hedge a higher number of bopd when you think youre going to get less per barrel for your hedged oil.

So will be interesting to see the actual numbers at the end of the year.

The price today is irrelevant unless you sold or bought. I've held my shares for nearly 2 years and on days have made 5, 10 or 15% and on other days lost 5, 10 or 15% (all paper profit/losses of course). A real roller coaster. In fact even this week down 8% on Monday, then back up Tuesday, down Wednesday, back up Thursday and down today. This is how the MM's make their living. If you're clever enough to do this great, if not like me, then you just have to ride it out (just look at the 2 year graph for confirmation). In time it will go up as we all know oil is booming and money is flowing in irrespective of the share price on the day. Frustrating but patience is key.

Who the hell knows....could even finish blue today. Swings 3p in a heartbeat.

Hedging is also the reason they are not bust, were able to refinance and your shares not worthless.....so I wouldn't knock it too much. Also when oil does drop again one day it'll suddenly seem like an amazing play to have 75% hedged.

* Hedge 75% of that
* Actually produce say 69k or perhaps even more, in effect reducing your hedge percentage significantly while oil is booming
* As you say ... under promise over deliver and then at some point its announced that expectations were way exceeded and share price jumps up.

Downside for us is I guess that means we need to hold for at least another year to see the benefits this.

The reason is mentioned in the article (quoted below) and Slift, I'd expect you to to be well aware of the why. It's no secret that Tullow does not currently have the cash reserves to commit to this. I've followed your posts in the past and noticed a distinct change from ramping to deramping when you last sold your Tullow holding. I hope we are not about to see the same thing happen again due to you having sold or perhaps even shorted Tullow expecting the usual drop on results day.

No ... I only think you are stupid .... but think what you want.

That is why I don't read the ENQ board or the post s**t on it. I just don't care about ENQ and will also never buy an ENQ share due to the likes of you. say we'll be over 60p again by the end of next week. Oil is soaring and in reality there was nothing wrong with the update today. Also, there are a lot of potential positives in the future that could be game changers. Once the information from today is digested and the games played, we'll be back on our way up. We're still up nearly 50% from when we hit 40p in early November and if you're short you're really kidding yourself if you think there is any reason for us to head back down there. Hedges hold us back at the current price, but also mean we're protected if oil drops. So barring a major catastrophe, we're only going forward. Still a waiting game in my opinion.....
