Retrospective tax matter to be closed within a month
Bajaj said the government will be able to pay a refund on taxes collected from Cairn Plc on account of retrospective taxation in a matter of days. Along with this, all other cases under such tax applicability will be closed within a month, he said.

“All other formalities are complete. What is left is the refund to Cairn which will happen in days. There are many others that have been closed but since the money did not have to go in, they didn’t create any noise… We should close this matter within the next 15-30 days.”

According to Bloomberg Tax:

India will refund taxes to Vodafone Group Plc and Cairn Energy Plc by the end of next month, following the government’s decision last year to scrap a controversial tax rule, according to a top finance ministry official.

The government will refund 79 billion rupees ($1 billion) to Cairn by this month, Revenue Secretary Tarun Bajaj said in an interview Monday

It said Vodafone might be delayed because of a bottle neck on Vodafone's side.

If this trading update doesn't highlight how crazy the current valuation is I'd be amazed.

It needs to basically outline £150m of value away from the India cash and that's the market cap covered. Just nuts.

Also note their is a senior tax manager role advertised, which I see as positive, not only for compliance but maximising value across the portfolio.

I can see that the about us section has been updated and repeatedly mentions strong balance sheet!

Also suggests out future is very much gas (good for eat purposes).

I could never have guessed with Brent at $88 and within a few days of receiving $1.06bn we would be able to buy at 192p. Most confident I've been.

In my view, yes. They might have used the derivative to hide the fact they have closed their short to stop the scramble up. It means they are now near enough neutral on AO.

Lewis, looks to me like JPMorgan have closed or hedged their entire short position through equity swaps.

Camelot have straight up increased their position to over 18% now, which together with Odey mean 24% is held between the two.
