This is in effect a ‘new’ vaccine to try to tackle the now dominant Delta variant.
‘Booster’ vaccine is just semantics.

You don’t fix vaccines which work well. The truth is that they have become markedly less effective. I was rubbished here a few days ago for saying this and Delta + would follow before Xmas. Well reported widely in India Delta + is already identified.

Very early days the doubling hasn’t really kicked in yet to make a massive impact but it will.

We watched Italy in horror and it followed.

We watched India and we have that variant now dominant and Delta + already identified.

There are millions of unvaccinated students and school children and the virus has now found them as the new route to wreak havoc. That is a big difference combined with much greater transmissibility.
It has started be under no illusions.

If the current projections are followed through to their natural conclusion I believe we are headed for a protracted ‘sh*tstorm.’
RM wanted fires to put out so perversely perfect for SNG. I believe they will sadly be in abundance.

A few days ago I posted that given the speed of current Coronavirus mutations I thought it not unlikely we would see a Delta + by Christmas.

Well it seems we won’t have to wait that long. As apparently it is already here.

Doc where we are now is a stated Public Health England guesstimate of just under 20 % reduced effectiveness of current vaccines from what wasn’t 100% effective in the first place.

If I were a betting man I am guessing that will worsen as data and spread intensifies. It appears lower mortality than first wave but greater transmissibility so that may counter the first.
You don’t fix things that are working well and expected to serve you well.
You only urgently replace things when there is a definite need that they are significantly less effective or obsolete.

Given the current time lines for mutations of the virus who is to say Delta + won’t be with us for Xmas.

What they do not what they smoosh you with is what we should pay attention to.

The vaccine program has been remarkable. I will gratefully accept the 2nd jab in the hope that it helps a bit if the worst happens.

But ‘Urgently’ working on a revised vaccine is all we need to know. Already the virus has probably rendered what has gone before fairly obsolete. At worst a chocolate tea pot.

Doc respectfully the figures you posted tell you all you need to know. Over a quarter of deaths fully functioning double vaccine protected.

Guidance put out to the public is palpably designed for folk not to worry and has repeatedly fallen short of the truth.

Oh and transmissibility was revised down by Mr Han**** to the enquiry from the experts quoted 60 - 100% more transmissible to 40%.
Yet more BS from him as the scientists reassert 60% as a starter.

I don’t think they would be urgently working on a ‘booster’ vaccine ready in ‘100 days’ maybe, if all was well with originals. It made no sense if they were sufficiently effective.

Now we know beyond doubt they are almost certainly not.

The vast majority of folk wouldn’t be interested or deem it worthy of their concern.

Politics is just a huge game virtually impenetrable due to layers of well rehearsed legal and regulatory fire walls.
