'If they thought the results will drop the sp, they would have waited.'
E& have gov approval to buy 15% so they may have split 60% before results and 40% after. Either way, there should be more buying. Also more hybrid bond buybacks (€2Bn) in this FY too I think
'€154Bn total assets are undervalued. Net assets €57Bn but market value €24.2Bn...'
I am gobsmacked the auditors and Directors can say the company net assets are €57Bn ie the lower of cost and net realisable value. And 3rd parties have bid or transacted on parts of the company that indicate the net assets are indeed somewhere close to €57Bn. Yet the market says €24Bn and goes down with each dividend distribution of cash. There is no material near term debt due and the coupon is averaging 2.5% or less on the lot so servicing it isnt an issue. In any case, spectrum never wears out, ever and can be refarmed over and over.
I suppose Blackrock et al could be using VOD as the index liquidity workhorse, but that surely must come to an end with E& and sticky hands. This is going to the moon on strategic news surely?
91.3p for me please

Cartune. VOD earnings are regulated and div cover is a meaningless measure on its own. If you are investing for a div, buy a div tracker etf. Div cover wont improve if the SP is 50p. But SP can spike on a number of upcoming events
Cartune, 'any company'.
VOD is not any company, it is (mostly) a regulated company and its returns monitored hence 3VOD UK merger and CMA outcome about to land
Cartune, 'Vodaphone is performing poorly to say the least!'
How do you know? Reporting is a few weeks away
And need pi's to sell. Cartune you dont post very often and been around since 2014 but turn up today worried about div cover?
Car tune, you could be right. I think its option expiries and iis etc rolling over contracts this week.
Cartune, according to this source (page 29) 5 countries had cpi linked pricing in last FY and should be coming through in this years numbers. 7 countries at H1 this FY, so 2 countries just started. MDV on point to deliver €1Bn cost savings and keep the cash flowing for the dividend. No material near term debt to repay. All that Vantage and Hungary cash to go somewhere.. who would know better than MDV?

presumably normal service will be restored shortly, witching week
'Will be interesting to see the final agreement. VOD are 3rd largest operator in UK with c18m subscribers. 3 are 4th largest with c9m. Think I saw 3 wanted to use $5Bn for their share and but this article says £15Bn for the combined entity.'
If those numbers are right, VOD must be c.£10bn for 51% of the merged entity. Italy was €11.6Bn, Vantage, Spain etc building to a valuation more than the market value of the stock.
Is this just an exercise for the statutory accounts to underpin the €156bn total assets/ €56Bn net assets and carry on regardless with the SP 50% down. Is this why the criticism of the ultra conservative chair. Or will we see a capitulation to asset disposals anytime soon?
“The reality is that this should not be allowed, in America, I suspect, this wouldn’t be allowed. If they’re going to ban TikTok from all government devices then they certainly should be blocking this.”

mick-b, yes played. I notice the media now talk about wealth rather than pensions. You can include your home, equity release etc in that. Emerging economies and home ownership are to be applauded as more of the worlds population join the 'expanding middle class'. But I feel poorer for it. Maybe the post brexit, indo pacific trade deal will balance the telco books
'Hope you dont croak before 130p'
Well the retirement age for the state pension being raised to 68 has been delayed until after the next election. Apparently we aren't going to live as long as they thought last week
Gary I could be wrong. My doctor says 47% risk of heart attack. I hope he is wrong. If he is right, you will be getting my stoks from my cold dead hands
Market scratching its head and indecision... maybe Hunts dividend tax has softened the value going into 2023/24 tax year. E& momentum cant be ignored, so my take is over £1 after testing lows. Of course, meeting guidance and positive outlook will propel us to the moon as shorts close and longs scramble to catch the ride up :-)
In the interest of balance, if Nick has caught his hand in MDVs knick*r elastic, the SP may twitch for a short while yet. But Nick was no dominique strauss-khan imho
https://invst.ly/-o7io
probably because replacements for Nick are 10 a penny and the industry breeds corporate civil servants.
want someone different, who can sell italy for €11.6Bn and pay down some debt etc
'Analysts Assign GBX 185 Price Objective to Vodafone Group Public, Indicating a Potential Upside of 108.85% from Current Price'

VOD drifting up and down with the index.
On the beach and the bay is filling with empty oul tankers. Telco less risky than oil.
92p my guess next friday
83.3p for me please. Double bottom.
