I take your point on mortgages @amers but many mortgage deals already reflecting the future rate you can fix at 4.80% below current interest rate and certainly nothing like the 7% after the Truss disaster. Yes many are leaving a 1% rate but it’s not going to 8% is it.. And totally agree with @Josh it will be the big ticket items that will be put off or cut back on while your beauty & gym items have proven to be strong during tough times.. GLA

It’s worth mentioning all the chunky pay rises this year. I have a friend who is a teacher who got paid last Friday & also received a 3 month back dated payment. Also the actual pay rise started a few months back. Lots of people receiving 10%+ if both households working as food inflation, fuel prices, energy etc are falling quickly. There will be a fair bit of extra Dosh sloshing around to spend this Christmas… It’s the F.ck it Christmas after a miserable few years this backed up by the 5%+ Adobe online data @onsolid found. GLA

Nice one @onsolid backs up some early data & looks like online sales carried on through the weekend & into Monday.. I’m calling it the advent calendar effect! Our Jan numbers will be compared to a very average Q4 last year as long discussed on here postal strikes, energy fear etc so unless some major F.ck up we should be good but this is THG so we always roll the dice but all my chips are staying In.. Come on guys & girls I know you love the advent calendar chat.. This is quite a big deal as Cult Beauty is £200 a pop and last year we were stuck with a load of advent calendars that didn’t sell. Lookfantastic Advent £99 sold out 2 weeks ago! What we don’t know is if they were more cautious this year and made up a lot less calendars but whatever they seem to have got the balance correct this year. Also a good sign if 1000’s of people are happy to £200 a time.. Also this is not a lot of internal LinkedIn kids shouting we smash it woah haven’t we done well this is just facts from the websites ‘Sorry we have sold out’! GLA

The line from Adobe on online sales being 4.2% Up sounds promising. But you never know how this reflects on THG sales as we’ve been disappointed before so let’s see. One thing is for sure there will be a lot less refunds for undelivered items due to strikes last year.. Also last year due to the strike nobody trusted buying online in the week before Christmas so we should see a good final push online.. We will find out January…

Yes if you take a step back everything they are doing is long term. Most on here want a short term SP result and that’s where a lot of the friction comes from. I won’t lie I’d also love a quick £2 but overall I’m very happy where the company is now and where it is heading. With the Macro also changing I’m happy to hold my investment long term and get my £2.50 GLA..
