Anyone familiar with walletinvestor.com - they have BOIL predicted to slump from .08p to .0096p over the next year. Having said that, they seem to be forecasting that almost all oil and gas shares will drop like a stone over the next year.

The question of when, not if, is the only one that needs to be answered. One of these days we'll wake up to the sound of HFB driving past in his shiny new Tesla Model X :))

In the news today is the government's plan to ban the installation of new gas boilers from 2025 onwards. The IEA is also proposing a global ban on new fossil fuel boilers from 2025.

If anyone is concerned that this will affect our very own gas BOILer, there is no need to worry. You'll be able to install a new gas boiler from 2025 if it can run on hydrogen. Natural gas will continue to be supplied to households but will be gradually be replaced as hydrogen becomes more available. And the reason why there is no need to worry about the future of natural gas? The technology is there to convert natural gas into hydrogen.

Natural gas is 70% - 90% methane. Quite apart from the carbon emissions from burning natural gas, there's also a lot of methane that gets leaked into the atmosphere - and methane, as you know, is far worse than carbon dioxide in terms of greenhouse gases and global warming. Natural gas converted to hydrogen has an enormous future and will be part of the solution of cleaning up the methane leaks issue and cutting the carbon emissions (no carbon emissions from burning hydrogen).

Hold on to your hats and enjoy the ride! It could prove to be the longest rollercoaster you've ever been on, but the prize at the end will be worth all the ups and downs and twists and turns.

Thanks for the responses. The more I read and learn the more I realise the astronomical upside potential of BOIL. The stars will have to align - but it seems they could align in a number of different ways, any one of which could be massive.

The drillers will be lining up and fighting each other off if all goes well.

I'm new to BOIL so I'm getting up to speed a bit with a little research.

The timeline below will not be new to many of you - but a reminder doesn't hurt. We're roughly half way through the first 3 year license period of the PSC - so at some time between now and November 2022 we might expect to have news of the drilling of the first appraisal well. If the seismic data and appraisal well produce positive results we could see the SP absolutely fly in 2013/14 when an exploration well is drilled - it looks like I'll be topping up for the next two years. Hold onto your hats for a long ride!

As previously reported, Timor-Leste and Australia in August signed a maritime border treaty, under which oil and gas fields shared between Australia and Timor-Leste in the Joint Petroleum Development Area transitioned to Timor-Leste’s exclusive jurisdiction.

As part of the agreement signed with the Timor-Leste government for the block containing the Chuditch gas discovery (found in 1998), SundaGas and TIMOR GAP have committed to carrying out the exploration work program for a seven-year exploration period in the 3571.49 square kilometers block.

The minimum work program in the initial period (years 1-3) includes the seismic reprocessing of 800 km² of 3D seismic data and 2000 line kilometers of 2D seismic data and review of hydrocarbon potential of the entire contract area. If the result of the seismic reprocessing supports the presence of a significant structure associated with the Chuditch discovery, the term of the license will call for the drilling of one appraisal well.

The second license period (years 4 and 5) will include a post-well evaluation study, drilling of one exploration well, and development scenario planning for Chuditch discovery.

The third period (Years 6 and 7) includes geological and geophysical studies, development scenario planning, and drilling of two (2) exploration or appraisal wells.

It's less than 3 years since the SP was .65p (.70p 5 years ago).

The circumstances are now entirely different, of course, but it does show the depths to which the SP has tumbled. It also reveals the sort of heights BOIL could rise to, potentially much higher - it just might be a long wait (hopefully not as long as DGO, for those of you long enough in the tooth to remember that one...a nice 8 bagger in the end).
