Germany gets about half of its gas from Russia, some from pipelines through Ukraine. Supplies to Europe continue to flow despite the conflict but there remains the threat of sanctions, damage to pipelines or retaliation from the Kremlin.

Europe also gets gas in shipments from countries including Qatar and Australia, but there is global competition for these supplies and Germany itself does not have any liquified natural gas (LNG) import terminals.

Germany is now planning to build LNG terminals, one in Brunsbuettel and one in Wilhelmshaven.

Given the COVID situation in Peru and the pending government approval process, I think it will be 2023 before we see anything positive from there; likewise with the Dunrobin prospect - nothing much to influence the SP until the drilling phase in 2023.

The bid round in Timor Leste closes on Friday - then there will be a month to evaluate the submissions. That takes us into April. More meat on the bones is needed regarding the LNG partnership fund, pipelines, processing plants, definite commitment to monetising the huge assets...who knows when and what further announcements will be made, but all the signs are that something big will happen in the next few months.

In the meantime, the MMs will continue to walk the SP up and down by one hundredth of a penny or two - making a few quid for themselves on small margins.

Hold on and hang in there...the reward is coming :)

What is next for the 2nd Licensing Round?

From January 24th 2022, companies that have successfully prequalified will be able to bid for specific blocks, until March 4th. Following that, ANPM will take a month to analyse and appraise all offers, before announcing the results. After this, the Timor-Leste industry will gather at the 4th Timor-Leste Energy & Mining Summit in June 2022.

Upstream mobility, midstream opportunities

ANPM announced its new midstream plan on October 2021, where small clusters of refineries, LNG plants and downstream projects will be spread across the country’s coastline, following the results of current discovery evaluations onshore and offshore, and new exploration activities in the currently available blocks.

At the same time, this plan creates a lot of opportunities for pipeline companies, consultancies, performance optimization and automation companies, and service providers. The plan helps operators save significant money and reduces barriers for monetization, through an interconnected network of pipelines, connecting to Greater Sunrise and each other, before a large pipeline transfers the gas from the Greater Sunrise field to the upcoming downstream facilities, including a newly planned onshore LNG plant.

Next week might be a bit optimistic, but there's enough there in the discussion between the two PMs to think that it wouldn't take much to lift the SP back up to the 0.11 mark - and even that represents a decent profit if you bought a few at 0.06. Not that I'll be selling - I'm in for the longer term until the big boys take over.

I wish I could afford to buy more, but I'll be in trouble with her indoors if I sell the car and the house ;)

I think, Meadow1948, you'll find that most of us are realists. BOIL has massive upside potential - that should be obvious to anyone that has done some research and followed this share - but that doesn't mean that the potential will ever be realised. We all risk losing our money. We accept that. If at least some of the potential is realised, we will deserve what we reap for having taken the risk. It's a waiting game. I've waited 10 years or more before to eventually make good on a 10 bagger.

When the ball starts to roll, the upside potential will be totally off the chart...better have a good stock of travel sickness pills at the ready ;)

They are desperate for farm labourers in Australia - but the main harvesting period is from December to May; so the up-tick of weekly flights in July (the middle of the Australian winter) would seem to be for more than just migrant workers (who won't be flying back and forth every day), and the announcement does seem very particular in mentioning a need for additional freight capacity.

Scheduled flights: Darwin-Dili

There have been occasional Qantas flights to Dili since February last year. But now, "in order to maintain critical passenger and freight links with Timor-Leste. This service will now become a permanent commercial route with the E190 aircraft operating three flights per week, increasing to five flights each week from July 2022."

These flights are not for holidaymakers. A sudden jump to five flights per week by July must mean something!

I don't think you establish an LNG Partnership Fund unless you've already reached agreement in principle to work together on LNG projects - otherwise, what would be the point?

Who knows, but it could be just a matter of months before details of an agreement emerge.

There is the possibility of a relatively small-scale LNG import facility being first built at Beaco - the main purpose of which would be a regasification project to run the generators that fire up the 3 main power plants on the island (currently running on diesel); and later to re-purpose the facility for the supply of natural gas from Greater Sunrise, et al.
