If I were a Booker shareholder I would wan out ASAP. Being tied to Tesco is hardly an enticing prospect for them but the chance to cut loose and seek better opportunities is one not to be missed. I can think of a few. In the good old days Tesco would have swallowed Booker without a thought, a side dish not the main menu. The fact it is regarded as a possible salvation shows how desperate things are for Tesco. Just to open old wounds, the SFO has resumed the case of the 3 executives charged with fraudulently inflating Tesco profits through alleged 'creative accounting'. Should the verdict be guilty will Tesco be in the chair for any compensation claims? Seems likely. As things are Tesco is like the banks: too big to fail - think of the fall out. That doesn't mean it makes the grade for wise investors.

As far as Pfizer is concerned, I doubt if the situation arose because 'all women like shopping'; maybe all men think all women like shopping? (Not IME!) Pfizer's consumer unit is for sale and GSK are duty bound to consider an offer lest a rival steals a march on them. It's that simple. They have to decide what the unit is worth to them; they pay too much or the acquisition blows them off course then they will be in dangerous waters.

Also read an article saying HSBC appeared a good buy but could suffer from a collapse in the Chinese economy. You live and learn, altho' maybe it might be more than HSBC that takes the hit.
