I backed SAMOVAR in the Southwell 1.20. It won the race but had departed with its jockey (hope he is ok)
My complaint is I backed the horse not the rider. Should I complain to PP ? (Only Joking)

Well Done with the last 2 disconcerted. Both won well and good SP's as well.

Harry, thanks for tips as usual. I notice RW is going on to Chelmsford for one ride in the 7pm race QUEENS ROYALE for M Appleby. Its the rank outsider and I wondered if it had been mentioned at all.

PP are paying 6 places but MC is only 7-1 with them. They are also paying 3 places on 5.30 Kempton (7 Runners) and 4 places on 7.30 Kempton (0nly 9 runners now)

Some interesting thoughts being posted. I prefer to tick the individual boxes as that allows you to vary the stake if you so wish to reduce the total bet stake.
As regards EW betting on extra place races. Not sure if it is justifiable. On an 8 runner race an EW bet only has to beat 5 of the runners to be placed whereas an EW bet paying 4 places in a 14 runner race it has to beat 10 of the runners to be placed. I must admit when I log into my account the first thing I do is look for the extra place races and often bet EW on those races. I suppose its really a case of "Each to their own"

philip - It might have been worth including RJ's other ride for Hobbs in the 3,35. Travelled a long way and his only runner at the meeting IMPERIAL PRESENCE

Harry - I notice Spencer is up on Winter Lion for Fergal tomorrow in the York 4.00. Any thoughts on the chances ?

3.40 Poets Word 5-2 ( Cracksman will need some cut in the ground and I am not sure he will get it. He is the class horse in the race but he will be withdrawn tomorrow. If by any chance he is at start of race then he will be a serious player but siding with his conqueror at Ascot )

* Be careful tomorrow since we don't know how the ground will be riding especially at Ascot and York. They are expecting rain later this evening but we will have a better idea tomorrow morning. Also be wary of payday rules ( normally end of month on 1st Friday or Saturday after payday you tend to get lots of upsets) Good luck. It's Glorious Goodwood next week so there will be a blog daily as from Tuesday.
