LORD BALLIM comes into the race in terrific form and he's now tasted victory four times from his last five appearances. He has kept defying the handicapper and has a mixture of victories over hurdles/fences. LORD BALLIM was an emphatic winner at this venue 37 days ago, despite making a couple of blunders on the way around, he won with plenty to spare, keeping on strongly to win by an impressive five lengths at the line. He has really got his act together and his partnership with CEIRAN GETHINGS is pretty good if I am honest. Form figures when the pair combined read - 2111U1. Trainer NIGEL HAWKE has hit good form of late and he's very good at placing his horses. Amazingly, connections travel a whopping 992 miles (nearly the whole country) with there sole runner on the card LORD BALLIM. That is some travelling and it's nearly 500 miles there and back to home soil, which is around 7 and a half hours one way and 14 hours total journey. They wouldn't be doing that for no reason, because they must feel LORD BALLIM has another big chance at the course he relished last time out. He is the longest traveller I have ever witnessed, and connections did well with a runner that was the longest traveller last night on the flat at Newcastle. LORD BALLIM goes up in trip/class, but he's on a serious roll of late and the handicapper might not stop him from winning again here. The long journey could well pay off and he should be in the firing line with a very light-weight 10-3.
