RE: Fluidic as the possible partner for antigen tests ? (courtesy Alastair Maynard)6 Aug 2020 23:44
I think so, they have a site at the Cambridge BIomedical Campus, at the very least.
And Cambridge is where one of the regional Lighthouse lab is located.
Plus their press release reads : "Working together with partners at the University of Cambridge and other world-leading institutions, Fluidic Analytics has developed the Fluidity One-W Serum in response to the COVID-19 pandemic."
Said "partners" could either be Cambridge academics, or they might also entail other entities... such as Primerdesign engineers.
But for all we know, this alleged partnership between Fluidic and Novacyt might just be a production/distribution deal. Wouldn't be half bad, if you ask me.
It'd be exciting if Fluidic is indeed our partner, because from what I understand, their fine-grained technology would be well-suited for post-vaccination, follow up studies of immunisation .
Remember that herd immunity is deemed to be gained only after 60%+ of a population is immune. And that we still don't know which vaccines will work, and which'd require a double dosage. A good way to acertain this, is to study precisely the antibodies.
That's where, it seems, such a technology would shine ; going beyond the mere "yes there are antibodies / no there aren't" approach that basic antibody tests are currently providing.
And now we have a respectable amount of cash, there'd also be room for capital injection in that company...
