Mole, I share your views - it will be flow rates and recoverable reserves which will determine success or otherwise and, therefore, the sp. That said, I am pleased to see the gains this morning and hoping that this is a sign of things to come. We know that IOG is leakier than a colander so, in theory, if good news is coming down the pipe (excuse the pun), I would hope to see these gains continue through this afternoon with an RNS Monday/Tuesday.

Likewise deniscaff. My optimism is saying that, logically, things should be ok. However, my pessimism, cumulated over the past 8 years, cannot ignore the many, many let downs we have suffered.

Meant to add that shares started trading at 45p on admission to AIM in 2013. Almost 10 years later, the price is not even 33% of this figure amid what could be growing uncertainty about the success or otherwise of the Southwark well. As I have said before, is the company about to snatch failure from the jaws of success?

It is not looking good. Too many historical similarities where sp started to drift down ahead of expected announcement ("mid-January") and then collapsed. I sincerely hope I am wrong but LTH's have seen this many times before.

Wolster, Sadly, as you comment, many of us have bad dreams of what has occurred in the past. I can only hope the downward drift in the share price is due, as said by others, to selling by those short termers who bought in at the lows of a couple of months ago and is not another info leakage of less than positive news.

SpA, I sincerely hope you are correct about there being nothing wrong with Southwark. In parallel, we had nothing but initial good news about Blythe and Elgood only for time and production to identify problems which would collapse the share price. Fingers crossed for a mid January announcement of Southwark first gas followed by positive flow data and then success with the second Blythe well and Southwark A1.
Apologies for the negativity but those of us who have been here for years know only too well the company's ability to deliver failure from the jaws of success.

Sp, I am with your thinking and, given the history of the last few years, it could be that there is another issue which is being urgently worked on. I sincerely hope this is not the case, but I have lived this share since it was first issued and, sadly, the story so far has been, if it can wrong it will go wrong. I do not have an engineering background but am now beginning to suspect that the other "issue" could have something to do with the success or otherwise of the fracking of A2 and that the further deferral of first gas is to give the company time to try and fix a problem.
What I do think however is that, given the geological issues which have manifested themselves over the past few years, Fiona MacAulay, a geologist herself, should now, as with Andrew Hockley, fall on her sword.

My understanding is that fracking is a preparatory stimulation process and cannot in itself identify gas flow rates. These will only be capable of being assessed once gas is flowing through the pipeline to Bacton. This is where the risk lies for IOG - whether A2 will ultimately flow at the rates predicted.
As a long term, significant shareholder, I am shoulder to shoulder with all other investors here but, having experienced so many hiccups over the years with this company, it would be naive to discount anything going awry at this point. The company has become expert at snatching failure from the jaws of success!

That will all depend on Southwark A2 delivering gas as predicted. If it does not I fear that many people, myself included, will be counting the cost.

LEXION, TXP and Touchstone Exploration?

As I said in my earlier post, the downward movement in the sp was, based on historic experience, inevitably going to be followed by a negative or benign update. This has been the experience of the past and is simply down to information leakage from the company.
I am not sold on the announcement which, yet again, defers Southwark first gas, this time to mid January. Previous statements included Q4, December, late December and early January. It is is lamentable that management did not just bite the bullet and say "January 2023" or "Q1 2023" many months back. Yes, the delays in days and months terms are minor but it is the constant restating by senior management which simply labels them as unprofessional and potentially incapable.
More unresolved questions re Elgood add to ongoing frustration.

We have, of course, seen this sp behaviour before during the last 3 years or so. Rational thinking would suggest that, as data relating to Southwark first gas comes in, the sp should move ahead. However, the decline from ca 20p to ca 15.75p over the last couple of weeks would appear to suggest there was negative news at some stage. That said, it is now recovering which, absent any large buys, would again suggest news but, this time, positive. Difficult to explain otherwise.

It is comforting to note the activity around Southwark and Blythe and one can only hope that, this time, there is good news followed by good news, followed by good news, etc. On the assumption that no news is, itself, good news, I am gearing up for a cosy Christmas and expecting a positive announcement about Southwark first gas early January. If it comes earlier I will be delighted.

Still a concern as to why the sp has drifted down ca 13% on such small volume. Just to remind everyone that we have seen this scenario various times in the last 24 months or so and the end result has not been good.
With regards to southwark, another reminder that RN stated gas flow "around" year end - not "prior to" year end per previous announcements. This makes me think that our Christmas present will be delivered in January. That said, I will be enormously happy if anything positive happens sooner.
