Jamiejojo - there is no compelling evidence to conclude that GS is selling down, or transferring some, or all of, its holding to a secondary , or even tertiary account that they might also hold. It is quite possible to present a series of transfer trades in such a way that it looks like a big sell down, if that is the narrative you wish to create. I too am adding as many shares as I can whilst the price is held artificially low like this.

interestingly the number who voted against resolution 2 (to approve Directors Fees) also came out at 36.56M - so it is quite possible that a 36.4M ish sized block contributed in large part to that number.

All this discussion goes to prove how important it is to vote - this means making your platform holder aware that you have specific voting intentions and do not wish them to simply use their own proxy vote.

Daisydog - the number voting against resolutions 6 and 7 (Aug 5th) as the same at 49,915,499 was 815,499 larger than the number that Golden Summit were recorded as having 5 weeks earlier on the 30th June - that specific number does not appear to be easily constructible from the number of shares voting against some of the other resolutions - so it is not a slam-dunk conclusion that Golden Summit voted against those resolutions - for example it is entirely possible that Barclays used all the proxies of their holder's shares (approx 36.4M at June 30th) and another 13.5M was found from somewhere. Exactly that number voted against the re-election of Dolly Mokgatle - so who know who may have been flexing their muscles to try and get a seat on the board.

somtam - the grade of the mine is all about the amount of useful material (the stuff you want) in the ore that you dig up. It doesn't relate to the purity of the product at the end of the processing - in principle anyone can get any level of final purity simply by inserting multiple expensive purification steps, and producing 5 grammes of 99.99999% pure stuff at the end of the year - i.e. such a measure would not be economically meaningful. Whereas the grade of the ore is meaningful as it determines how much stuff you have to dig up and crush and pile into the rotary kiln, as well as how much other stuff like reactants and energy you have to put into the kiln with it.

The issue is complicated by the fact that VTM ores typically lie in bands so there are high grade bands and also lower grade bands. If you use a teaspoon you could probably just dig out the highest grade bands, but this too is an uneconomic approach so you need to be careful about those who might cherry pick thin high quality bands whilst ignoring the fact that they are going to be necessarily digging out lower grade bands at the same time and unless you fit the digger drivers with X-ray specs then all this stuff is going to be mixed up. So you need to look carefully at who is claiming what and on what basis. I wouldn't believe much until a bankable (sometimes known as definitive) feasibility study - i.e. BFS/DFS had been done, which gets right into the detail of precisely what can be dug and what can be left.

So next time a big Lithium-ion battery inconsiderately goes on fire I suggest that the Fire Brigade simply stand by and let it burn out whilst placing a call to Mr Bordenkircher to tell him that there is a learning event going on and would he mind sending a truck in a week's time to scrape up all the pieces.
