RE: BBN on BMN and CA VRFB DYOR11 Oct 2020 11:31
It is worth going back to see what BBN's original tweets actually said:-
An interesting article giving minor insight into why California policy makers see "flow batteries," as necessary for their future energy storage needs.
Remember we are talking about a state that is the 5th largest economy in the world.
Its a matter of time only. . . #BMN
The above article appeared on 5th Oct, talking up installing "2,400 megawatts of energy storage in the next two years" and it being a mere fraction of the "20,000 to 30,000 MW Gravely expects the state to need by 2045."
More importantly the key message was that ;
"flow batteries and other types of technologies can provide that 12 hours of storage for a much cheaper price” than litium-ion.
Then 2 days later #IES announced their deal with the very same "California Energy Commission" to supply 7.8MWh of batteries, which IES hailed as ;
"an enormous vote of confidence in Invinity's vanadium flow batteries."
And who has first refusal on vanadium/electrolyte supply to IES, why #BMN of course.
A truly significant moment for VRFBs, IES and indeed their partner Bushveld Minerals.
