Bassguy - that is where you are wrong - to short you need 1) someone prepared to lend you shares to do the shorting with and 2) an SP that has been pumped high enough to give you a good chance of making money on the short.
2B) (is perhaps optional) but if you can do it on a share dominated by private investors many of which may be ill-researched, or buying with leveraged funds, then the shorter can increase their chances of success, especially if they are able to talk the share down on public forums.
Personally I think it is not just a despicable way to make money, akin to ambulance chasing and insurance fraud, but I think that it is also risky as there are so many unknowns. I would much rather make money by doing proper research, find an unloved company with great prospects, buy as many shares as I can, and then wait for everyone else to catch up. Sort of like what Warren Buffet does.
That is why I bought another 5 grands worth in the last week. Nearly got 11 million now.
