805 MW is the power but do we know the energy ? Assuming these are fairly standard Lithium-ion units then the duration may only be 1.5-2 hrs.

If we are generous and call it 1.5GWh energy in total then that would require approximately 7,500 Tonnes of Vanadium using the conventional ratio of 5,000 mtV per GWh

sorry I've been busy preparing for the installation of a wood-burning stove today. Ash will contain 0.001% Vanadium so I estimate after a few years I will have a V resource base worth approximately a pound.

Yep seems like a technical error with LSE - maybe it is in connection with the new platform development

calamari - maybe the in-magnetite concentration is as high as that but AVL's overall total Mineral Resource is 183.6Mt at 0.76% vanadium pentoxide (V2O5) consisting of:

Measured Mineral Resource of 10.2Mt at 1.11% V2O5,
Indicated Mineral Resource of 40.7Mt at 0.66% V2O5, and
Inferred Mineral Resource of 132.7Mt at 0.77% V2O5.

This compares with Mokopane's overall 297 Mt resource at 0.68% - yielding a total contain vanadium which is some 50% higher than AVL's total.

Not that size is everything - I'm told it is also about what one does with it.

Does anyone really think that the SA government is not going to bend over backwards to help Bushveld Minerals and Bushveld Energy become a major player in the global energy storage sector ? Really ?

Serenus - no they are referring to the massive Evraz Highveld Steel which used to supply Vanadium sl-ag to Vanchem, which then I believe used to blend that with ore from Mapochs to produce Vanadium. I understand that Highveld used to also supply Treibacher in Austria with sl-ag and that in total Highveld accounted for around 12,000 tonnes of Vanadium to the worldwide supply. It is not clear to me whether this 12,000 tonnes figure is just Highveld by itself - and thus the subsequent forcing into business rescue of Vanchem also added a further reduction or if the 12,000 tonnes covers the entire Highveld-Vanchem-Mapochs constellation.

The usual calculation is 1 GWh = 5,000 Tonnes Vanadium - you would get 5,000 tonnes of Vanadium in 8,928 Tonnes of V2O5 as V2O5 is 56% Vanadium 44% Oxygen by mass.
