fatbanker - I do not say this lightly, but this was exactly what happened before the July 2017 Vanadium bomb went off - warehouse stocks fell to nothing and then suddenly the price took off.

Now of course I appreciate that the structure of the two markets is not the same - Vanadium supply being primarily by-product based naturally does not follow usual commodity supply-demand pricing - but the fact remains in real commodities you cannot sell what you do not have in the warehouse, or coming out of the mine.

Interesting that he mentions that there has been a tolerance period applied on Chinese rebar regulations - yet again the Chinese are struggling to keep up with Vanadium demand - who remembers the 10,000 tonnes they found behind the sofa in August 2017 ?

TotalTrader - you assert that 'most experts did not see the drop in price' - actually that is not true - the renowned world class expert that I spoke to for 45 minutes at the Vanitec meeting in Lausanne last year DID correctly predict that Vanadium prices would go above the $75 level that they were at at that time and said they would go to over $100 due to the same dynamics that caused the previous price spikes to go so high (essentially traders jumping onto the commodity as one to hold back) - he also told me that he thought that it would return to the $70-80 range after this short term trading was out of the way.

So which other 'experts' confidently predicted that prices would not drop back below $100 - I would like to see some evidence of your research.
