Now 20 x Bed & ISA trades - seems like many people are loading up their ISA accounts for the long term here today.

I guess also that once those funds are inside an ISA it becomes a lot easier (you don't have to worry about all the Bed & Breakfasting rules and CGT liability) to consider trading activities that help reduce the fluctuations in the share price - hmmm very interesting. I make it about 3 million shares transferred into ISAs in less than 4 hours.

Now I count 15x Bed & ISA trades + 1x Bed & Sipp

this morning, for £20K shares are 0.05-0.07 pence - so pretty good. Expect to pay 2-3 times this if you are only Bed&ISAing £10k or less

UncleJohn - indeed, however there are many significant players in the field - UniEnergy Technology, Sumitomo, Rongke Power, VRB Energy, Cellcube, H2, Avalon, Vionx and RedT that I have not even mentioned yet.

I will no doubt cover some of them later in the year - I just thought it was worth discussing some of the work that was on show at the Energy Storage Europe conference last month, which is free and well worth a trip over to Dusseldorf if you are interested in the field.

The chemical part of this process is just the same as that that any O-level chemistry student would have undertaken to test for CO2 in their chemistry class - bubble the gas into calcium hydroxide solution (limewater) if it turns milky (precipitates Calcium carbonate, i..e limestone) then you have CO2 in the gas.

Question - where do you think the limewater (calcium hydroxide solution) comes from ?

Answer - yes it comes from limestone (CaCO3), which is heated to produce Calcium Oxide (CaO) - and guess what - that process liberates 1x CO2 i.e. Carbon Dioxide, exactly the same amount of Carbon Dioxide as you wish to subsequently use the Ca(OH)2 to trap.

Thus this brilliant 'concentration' process can in fact be avoided by simply walking to a fossil fuel power station and connecting a pipe up to its smoke stack. You really are much better off dealing with the pollution right at its source rather than try to filter the 1 molecule of CO2 in every 2000 of air.

If you did this you would be doing what is called Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) - which many people are assuming is going to be applied, but few can tell you when - the problem is what to do with all that Carbon Dioxide and who is going to pay you to do it.
