RE: My JD Sports - Click and Collect order23 Dec 2024 09:00
The share price action is looking awful. My guess 2 years ago was that by this time we would see a solid price of 300p per share. Look at it now, 1/3 of my estimate. Growth has stalled and the product offering is shifting astray, in a direction that is not consistent with the original business model and not following market trends. The price of trainers and sport wear is inconsistent with the disposable income of the average Joe.
JD can blame inflation, employer NI, warm weather, US elections, currency movements etc., but those factors seem to affect JD more than other retailers, such as Next, which keeps to march on with the good news and positive TUs.
Interestingly other retailers, such as M&S strategically close stores to reduce cost, JD is opening new stores indiscriminately. Has anyone tracked revenue per square footage for JD? The last figure I have seen showed half as much as Foot Locker makes.
If Christmas sales don't allow to meet FY forecast you all know what it'll means for current shareholders.
