Smith DS market cap today is about 42% of the market cap of Mondi + Smith combined. Smith is coming into the all share combination with a lower PE than Mondi (at least according to the PE stated on the Hargreaves and Lansdown website). If the valuation on the market is not changing, the Smith (DS) shareholders are actually seeing their shares trading at a higher premium, so exposed to more downside in unfavorable market conditions. The only hope is that the combined companies have more breath for growth.
Mondi is not giving Smith (DS) a great deal.
May Unilever benefit from the British ISA.
When is the next update?
Not a nice opening for JD this morning. Foot locker projections for the year ahead are not helping JD.
Hopefully a contraction for footlocker means an expansion for JD.
Taking a bit of a dive in the morning...
Would the RNS be issued today later in the day then?
Sasa I don't think you can predict the outcome of an offering in terms of price per share to be paid by the offeror, since for Mondi-SMDS it will be an all share combination, therefore you will get X number of shares of the merged company (which will probably still be called Mondi)
I don't understand the drop today, what was the market expecting for today?
There are not many companies making operating profits of about 10% the market cap.
Adding at 120p
DVS1 I am as much baffled as you are re Barclays.
Barclays also does not discount withholding tax for US dividend payers (whether you supplied the W8BEN form, Barclays will keep paying on your behalf 30% tax, rather than 15%). So no much point to progress any investigation regarding the matter.
Porsche1946 - Morgan Stanley noted that following a stronger performance in recent weeks, Unilever now trades at 17.6x 2024e price-to-earnings versus European Staples overall, on 17.4x.
How will a European listing add 30% to the share price?
Lord Lucan, I can't see the green!?
ImaRight the problem with housing is not exclusive of the UK. It is in many countries in the world. Look at Singapore, US, Gemany, etc.
"In early 2024, we have seen, as expected, the continuation of the ongoing cyclical slowdown in the Semiconductor Manufacturing Equipment sector and we continue to expect conditions in this sector to improve as the year progresses."
Why don't you ask the Investor Relations representative?
UBS raises Unilever price target to 3,430 (3,400) pence - 'sell'
Jefferies raises Unilever price target to 3,400 (3,300) pence - 'underperform'
Berenberg cuts Unilever price target to 4,960 (5,110) pence - 'buy'
Just added to my small holding in Smith. This is going to turn out good, whether an offer is made or not. It is the recognition of the quality of the business. I hope for an offer and acceptance in the region of £5.
DJ14 you have the answer now
91p, not 92p?
£330m boost lol the market cap of a company with revenue of £100m placed for $1B will adjust in a matter of weeks to a quarter of that figure. It doesn't matter anyway. JD owns 30% of the company already, what matters is what it earns for JD. Unless JD is going to sell its share, the valuation on the open market is totally irrelevant.
