It's sneaked in the AD*V*N risers board a couple of times of late tho.
Couple of 1 mill buys earlier. Now a 2 mill gone through. Explains why the sells are being readily soaked up.
GL.
Thank you EnergyGeo for filling in more gaps in my knowledge.
Have a passing question on the final journey to the TD...
Seeing that they are likely to be running MWD/LWD, does that mean a slower drill rate?. ..or is it a stop/start at this critical stage?
Presumably data acquisition and processing in real time to make ongoing decisions including whether they need to go beyond TD?
TIA.
...and as for the next news.
In the rig mobilisation rns, Leslie said he'll keep us updated at each milestone. He went on to list:
a) Drill 36" x 26" hole and set 30" x 20" conductor at around 120 metres
b) Drill 17 1/2" hole and set 13 3/8" surface casing at around 800 meters
c) Drill 12 1/4" hole and set 9 5/8" intermediate casing at around 2,800 metres
d) Drill 8 1/2" hole and set 7" production liner to approximately 3,500 metres
a. rns'd on 31/12/2021
b. rns'd on 6/1/22
c. rns'd on 14/1/22
d. ????
He's kept his promise....and some, i.e., 3 x interviews.
Impressive.
GL.
Really appreciate your posts EG. Keeps us informed as grounded.
Not long to wait. GL.
I have a hunch Tuesday night CVN rns....and no doubt Evans will be on the night watch!
@ Bladey
"He's already said that the TWO assets under due diligence are Buffalo style or better."
To use Buffalo as the benchmark for future deals, (seeing we don't yet know what lies beneath) shows the confidence he has in B10. A near certainty!
You wouldn't refer to a clapped out car as your reference for your new SIMILAR purchase would you!
:0)
@DPYC,
Yes, did wonder about HMS. Last time he posted, he said he was unwell. Hope he's OK.
Hope it's the Timor navy as they stand to gain over $600 mill over x years if this comes up trumps.
Super update. All to plan!
TBH, I always thought - and still do - that Peter was being conservative when he said 12 days in the interview. That comment was expected as that takes us nearer 35 days initially quoted. The attic should be penetrated this weekend and possibly midweek rns to say TD achieved "ahead of schedule and within budget" .
@ Chinaman, not so much the mm's thought they had time to mess, the traders who departed for temporary play elsewhere will hopefully be paying more for a re-entry.
Fun time!
GL all.
That's perhaps another question for EnergyGeo, but I read it as two subtly different things. I guess ultimately makes little difference to my investment, such high CoS is good enough for me!
" there remain a 10% probability of an outcome worse than 1C."
v
"provided the appraisal outcome is not worse than 1C (~95%)"
Need another interpretation!
Thanks for sharing that Milcait. Very positive write-up for CVN and of course they too have everything crossed for a positive outcome at Buffalo. A springboard for a transformational year for both partners. GL.
Just to add. The following key para from the RISC report:
"However, RISC supports Carnarvon Petroleum’s interpretation of bounding faults and the Top Elang Formation depth horizon, given the latest seismic dataset (depth domain, tied to wells, structurally oriented filter) (Figure 3-7). The data still suffers from various dipping noise and remnant multiple reflections despite a heavy processing effort. The depth map ties the well markers in their given positions. RISC is confident of the re-mapped crest to the east, and that the planned appraisal well will find updip oil."
If you have time, it is all in section 3.2:

Interesting question P13 and I too am intrigued!. Our learned friend hopefully will shed light on it.
However, reading the RISC report several times (my brain hurts!), I make it that the model focused on the reservoir, particularly the Elang Depth Structure, identifying the attic and it's location. So my basic understanding is, little to learn until we hit 2800m....hopefully....time to pop the cork?!!
Hi HMS,
Don't remember there being a 'commitment' by CVN for a 'weekly update'!
However, the rate they are going, likely hit 2800m may be next weekend (?) as this is one continuous operation(?) - 12 (1/4) bore - , before choking down to 9 (5/8) for the final push to 3500m
EnergyGeo may be able to enlighten us on the rate of drill from hereon in.
Have a nice weekend. GL.
Cheers tcm
Yes, if I remember correctly it was Evans who was quick off the mark last time too!
Let's see how this is perceived. If nothing else, it should go on a few watch lists.
GL.
Thanks again EnergyGeo, also the chainman for being vigilant re. CVN rns. So ours should follow in the morning!

Good post Bladey.
GL and hope patience rewards. Time to switch off for a couple of weeks me thinks.
@ EnergyGeo.
Thanks once again for your detailed response. All makes sense.
Am not too concerned about the timelines but hope to see an interim update at some stage. Dare I say any anomalies will most likely be reported.
As for the lease of rig for 35 days...
Again, not too concerned. Incidentally, according to Valaris rig schedule, JU-107 is leased to CVN for one month. Also, next in the queue for it's lease is Vermillion (April 22). So potentially we may retain it longer of required. Further I noted in an article the JV agreement, "the drilling will be at no cost to Carnarvon unless the well costs more than $20 million."
The onus is pretty much on CVN for a timely completion.
@ EnergyGeo
Thanks for a considered and detailed reply. Almost all makes sense to some of us non-oilers!
Yes, I had looked at the pictorial of the field in CVN's rns's and assuming the diagram was to scale, 100m depth for the Buffalo 7, so I had crude guess at the attic to be over 200m at the crest. I assume even with refined seismic there's gotta be some variance.
Also, yep, that's a day's worth of drilling and unlikely to be rns'd.
So not sure if we will get an interim update at any given MD or just have to wait for the TD. Here's hoping for a 'ahead of schedule' announcement!.
