Two reasons I would think. 1. Some backdoor liquidity were we don't see the sell to the MMs and then they have to pass it on to us. 2. There will be a lot of sell orders at the top of this range, a year of people buying at places like this and they may just be happy to cash out level, or people wanting out at the top of the range. So MMs need to creep up the BID to get sells to start and they want to move them on quickly with a lower ASK. A spread big or small is a profit. So I suspect its mainly 2 but with a bit of 1 taking away the effect of the volume of buys over sells not pushing price up. Its just got lower again, even after that 72k buy. Need to exhaust the sells to move on. Some care nothing for RNS' just price position. Its spiked before and fallen back, its top of range etc. gives a few a good reason to sell despite the enhanced news position.

Ah a few couldn't help themselves.... Since 3pm 400k buys vs 19k sells! With no more sells they will struggle in the morning to keep it here. 6.27p offered to sellers so the BID can come up to at least 6.3p before any real difference in the price offered. It won't necessarily encourage any more buyers by moving that. By breaking the 6.5p mid price there will hardly be an person with shares since 2013 in the red! That should be a sign of happy holders!

Well that trader lost money after fees! More buyers will arrive after they see that the selling is not creating a pull back of any significance. Thankfully the selling is smaller fry, probably happy to get their money back after 3 months biting their nails....

They certainly managed to spook sellers with the mystery sell order and flash crash in prices offered....
