Richboy, it's what investors do. Take positions BEFORE news comes out on the expectation of that news - thus getting in (if they are right) at a lower price and making a profit. This is the general principle of investing - attempt to get more money than you had before. Which is why lots of us having done research (you'll remember we talked about that concept before) have invested. It is not beyond the bounds of possibility we are all wrong (that's why share investments are risk investments, if we wanted certain returns we'd pop all the money into a building society and earn very little), but it's also possible we could be right.

Pleasing to see that my ISA account now has two zero valued lines for the OO - one for the basic entitlement and one for the excess I decided to apply for - obviously that doesn't guarantee I'll get the excess, but at least the placeholder is there!

with the number of people subscribing for extras, and comments (researched) on this board earlier, it is very likely to be oversubscribed, so all will be taken imho

Yes, Dinoman, you can buy shares with pretty much anyone straight away - because they too are on a T2 basis. However, for this offer, you needed cleared funds, which was why they asked for two extra days. Which is why some people may be finding out they haven't got the offer - the terms in my dealing/ISA accounts were well explained by II (obviously cannot speak for others)

actually, that had been posted earlier as I recall and would have stopped some of the "why haven't Halifax taken my money questions" From the internet the definition below makes it clear how long cash takes, and working backwards means as they said 16th for cleared funds, the cash goes out on Monday.
Once you’ve sold any investments with xxx, you may have to wait a couple of days to withdraw your funds. This is because we need to wait for your shares to settle. This normally takes two days for UK equities (T+2) and three days for US equities (T+3). Once you’ve sold your shares you can use the cash to trade more shares immediately, you just won’t be able to withdraw your funds until we’ve physically received them from our broker.

No urbancookie, you aren't wrong - they are telling you that it takes time for shares sold to turn into cleared cash - so if you are selling any investment (at any time technically) the cash isn't instantly available. But yes, based on the activities since the OO and the discussions on here, some people for various reasons may not get the 100% entitlement they were expecting.

For my money, the price is currently moving slightly one way or the other. Based on many factors, but the availability of shares to buy is key. So come Friday, in the absence of any other news, the possibility is that some may want to sell some of their shares. If they do, that increases availability and decreases price. Whether they do sell or not is of course speculation. I'd like to think that most who took up the offer did it with a view to the future, but that's my assumption. Until such time as firm news is out, we can expect little excitement from the share price - but again, just my opinion.

the OO stated "payment in full for the Open Offer Shares applied for must be received by 21 May 2019, by no later than 11.00am on 21 May 2019.", so I would guess with BACS Monday should be fine

The money for the OO and Excess has all gone out, but as to what I actually get is another matter entirely. IE made it clear that the offer wasn't transferable, so I could put my dealing offer into my ISA, but other than that not sure what the remark means

agreed on the significant amount - my holding without the OO is 17.8M, so will be at least 31.5m (remember I topped up after the deadline if anyone is doing the maths!) after the allocation - and higher if I get any of my extra request. It doesn't have to go up that much to make things happen in my life!!

you probably aren't the only one - people selling to fund the OO may find that despite thinking they can get the full allocation, they get scaled back to the holdings they ended up with. Some people seem to have sold out in full to fund (hearsay I know but) and they will have lost all entitlement - I guess it depends on the admin on all sides as to what actually happens. Glad I'm in it whatever!

not for a bit as if the money is taken from the accounts it could take a while to go back into the accounts. I did in the end decide to ask for a small amount extra, but I've mostly been topping up in the normal way, as I know what I'm getting that way!

basic entitlement of 1 for 1 is guaranteed, any extra, well who knows.

My only thoughts is we have passed the point at which anyone could have thought they had a chance to sell to get the money to buy on the OO. So demand outstrips supply and up she goes. Plus if other theories are to be believed, the aim of those theories has now been achieved.
