Never say never. Commercially viable; not yet nor soon. This particular project went broke anyway.

Unfortunately most fuels for any of our current transportation power sources tend to be on the fire happy side.

Been watching sporadically AFC, pretty dull of late. I've noticed the low SP and planned to top up but haven't done yet.

I've not followed any of the new news, I tried to check up on the old news about AFC and the Zero Coaster Norwegian project though found nothing new.

I still have to believe AFC will find some success with their ammonia cracker in the maritime market. It's sometimes hard not to feel they are far too slow and will get left behind. I've just put my car on charge on 400kW and travel on hydrogen or electrical powered ferries all the time. I see so many new ammonia factories being given the green light here in Norway, the latest factory going ahead will produce 280,000 tonnes a year. The government have just given grants of 70 million GBP to several new ships being built, 4 of which are powered by ammonia the rest hydrogen and electrical. The government have also set a target to have all offshore vessels (in the oil and gas industry) as zero emission by 2029. I'm not sure if this is too ambitious, nevertheless that's 500 ships in this market alone. With all this going on around me, I feel AFC must get a piece of this market somewhere, so I'll throw a few more nok on here even though the nok is not in my favour against the GBP.

I'll give myself an AFC catch up before investing more, and probably try and read some posts here and see who's still about.

I shall correct myself and say I've missed chatting on here, I'll blame my lack of use of the English language and misunderstanding of the phrase chatting as opposed to arguing. I would question your personal interpretation of the word big with regards to my speech, though perhaps your partner or broker would be understanding there. I'm not moaning, merely commenting.

I have plenty of moans I'd like to make having watched the AFC decline of late, there have been many fair comments on here. I am only here to say hello, and be honest regarding my current position. I may have some useless information to share at some point, before then, I'll work on my big speeches.

Wonderful to see the same arguments and back-and-forth exchanges are still prevalent here. I'm not going to add anything of value in this post, not that I have anything specific to add. I still follow sporadically in my own personal vacuum. I decided to increase my AFC interest at around the 7.5 mark, wish all of you the best.

Great to see you are still here to Jhonboy! I was very "lucky" in that I did sell a portion of my holding when AFC peaked a while back, that's not to say I didn't wait many years for the opportunity and it was a tricky decision (greed!). As I managed to cover my initial investment I could relax somewhat, unlike many here who may be sitting on a paper loss.

I seldom check here these days, and never post as you've noticed! I do miss some of the discussions here however, generally internet forums are not particularly helpful, especially in this type of field.

I still follow AFC though I'm not searching for cryptic links as I was before. There is so much happening and new competition pops up all over the place. I'd like to believe that AFC with their particular technology and years of fine tuning and market analysis could find their spot and land a mega contract, but I wouldn't bet my house on it.

I've never been one to criticise or praise AFC or the staff too much on here, I've been caught up in the highs and lows with everyone along the way. Personally I've had enough of listening to AB, I see what he releases and then research and make my own assessment of the news released. No one can deny the journey with AFC has been painful and often misleading, false dawns I think is fair, the language AB uses is often cryptic as much as it is in your face buy now or regret.

I'm under no disillusion that AFC are treading a fine rope between success and failure. We've had watershed moments and several new products and collaborations. This market is not yet crowded though there are plenty of companies popping up no doubt backed with great minds who are eager to tap in to this new market, that should be plural as there are many.

I'm still fully behind AFC and I do admire what they are trying to achieve, I just hope they have the clout to be able to make their mark in the projects they are involved in. If AB really has a time to prove himself it should be now, he has got the various products out with some big names, the interest is there. The clever people in the back have done

It's been a while since I've been on, SP is hardly exciting. I thought I'd give a quick update of things I see happening here, give an idea of the direction things are going. I'll keep it brief, you'll have to trabslate the articles but I can answer any questions anyone may have.

Plenty happening on the marine front, we will see a lot of action here in the coming years. A Norwegian company has made an ammonia cracker that will be integrated with the fuel cells in a new ship project, obviously another competitor to AFC.

Batteries are becoming ever more popular. Batteries are being used in small communities at the end of the grid to provide extra power when required and can even power the entire village for a period if there is a grid outage. These are installed in communities where industries such as fishing are big and power is essential, it is cheaper than upgrading the grid. A mega factory for batteries is being built in a small town, it is already partially open though will take many years before fully finished, it will employ 1500 people which, in a town of 19,000 is pretty crazy.

There are many other ship projects, airport, fish farming etc I can post about, more hydrogen related stuff too if anyone is interested. The reason I post these is we can see whether you agree or not batteries will play a big part in future power. There is good potential for AFC in Norway if they can impress and get a part of the market before they are beaten. I'd like to believe AFC can have a slice of this pie, and I believe they should if they play their cards right.

As I've said before, 2025 is when I believe we will start to see real change, especially here. Let me know if you'd like anymore info on projects happening. I regularly travel on hydrogen powered ferries today and we will be flying on electrical passenger planes by 2030 here I believe.

Haven't read here at all recently, don't imagine I've missed much.i had suspected some hard times, call me stupid for not selling but I'd rather just leave my long term investments to alleviate stress.

I don't feel I need to add much, I have no idea how 2022 will be for this market. I have always said 2025 for real action that we can see. I know we have high oil prices, but I also know that despite sickening profits (again), we are seeing a reduction in work force. I do have some faith that some companies are investing profits in to a renewable future.

I am also working with ABB as a customer of theirs. There are many exciting plans but they take an age to implement. I am involved with what we can call the airport of the future, though despite being on the forefront of this idea, we are some way off real change. I see many of the markets having a domino effect when they happen, especially maritime to name one.

I'm still quietly confident in AFC and their position within the market, I believe they will find their place.

I wish I was a trader with AFC as there have been some wonderful opportunities to make extra money/shares during this current market sentiment!

Are a Norwegian company within the maritime industry. I am invested in both and I don't want to try and pump shares on other pages. I only mention these 2 as I think they may be of interest to some. The sp is low after being involved in last years pumps, they have finished a recent merging and subsequent dividends, and are a well established company now going in to the green maritime market. I think next year with the backing of the Norwegian government and momentum picking up here, companies like these can start to do very well.

Hope you don't mind the plug, I'm just looking how to position myself within other areas of the maritime market, that will benefit from the new direction. I think the maritime market will really start to move next year, and I'm hoping AFC see some more action on this front too.

Personally I'll be keeping a close eye on what happens in Norway next year with maritime, data centres, public transport etc as I believe we can now see that they are taking the first steps in pretty much all of the markets. I will be following their plans on the hydrogen/ammonia infrastructure plans closely too.

Hi Steve, it was nice to read your explanation. Nothing new for me in there, but sometimes you can get swept away with irrelavent information. I compare it to watching the news, much of it is background noise that you don't need to know, if you don't watch you don't worry about something that doesn't affect you (I refer to unnecessary fear mongering). In comparison, if you don't read on here, you just follow the news released by AFC and you'll likely find yourself in a much more confident place mentally with your investment! That is of course a slightly harsh assessment on many fronts as, as you mentioned, many posters provide us with interesting information, whether it be speculation or not, I certainly enjoy speculating myself.

It's nice to see someone invest with a solid philosophy, focus on the bigger picture and look at the facts. Believe it or not, most of us have or do this ourselves! I enjoy the balance of positive and negative, but as my saying goes, take everything on the Internet with enough salt for a heart attack!

I posted about this ship some time ago, it has a different setup (although we don't know the details of the AFC setup yet), it is interesting to see the alternative ideas. Below is some text translated from Norwegian regarding the first ammonia powered vessel here, planned operational in 2024.

Last year, it became clear that "Viking Energy", a ship that sends supplies to petroleum platforms, will be the first offshore vessel to run on ammonia. In this vessel, ammonia is converted to electrical energy using a ceramic high temperature fuel cell (SOFC). This method is currently a bit more expensive and requires more space compared to the alternative the Aegir project will explore.

New solution with two fuel cells and a membrane
However, the Aegir project will combine two types of fuel cells and one membrane into one combined system. The ammonia must initially be decomposed by means of a ceramic high-temperature fuel cell (SOFC). When the compound is broken, the hydrogen must be separated by means of a membrane that only lets hydrogen through in the form of protons. These are converted to very pure hydrogen gas which is then converted into electrical energy by means of a highly efficient PEM fuel cell.

In this way, the researchers believe that they can deliver a solution that will be both cheaper and more space-saving for shipping, so that there will be more space for cargo. If they succeed, it will actually make it profitable for the shipping industry to drop fossil fuels in favor of emission-free ammonia.

Those of you who are far more clued up than me on this technology may have some educated perspectives. I have struggled to find solid information about who exactly makes what and how it will all work together. Nevertheless, the AFC partnership seems to be from scratch for a new ship, though I can see how an intermediate solution combining ammonia with other power sources could help to reduce emissions in the short term possibly? Particularly interesting with regard to freight is the space saving element.

As someone else mentioned, the first big market will be in retrofitting ships with new technology. With cash to spare and pressure mounting, I'm wondering which will be the first company to make the switch and sign a deal to update their ships. Buying new ships often results in a share price decline due to the huge cost involved. In line with the minimal waste philosophy, retrofitting allows minimal downtime with maximum benefit.

I'm not saying AFC will be the first to win one of these contracts, but the potential market is mind boggling, and I'm sure we will see some big companies make announcements in the near future.

Great stuff, thanks for the link! What isn't mentioned but I think worth repeating is the government's plan for shipping and commercial transport. All new contracts for public transport (land busses etc and sea) must be zero emission from 2025, and all large ships from 2030.

There are many passenger ferries here, and the contracts are often renewed, and for the larger vessels, new ships have to be ordered and built long in advance. So to summarise, although the dates sound a long way away, there will be many large contracts signed in the near future, plus expect other countries to set similar if slightly less immediate deadlines if they are to uphold their own targets/promises.

Yes you are right. It's a good example of how posts on here can change people's perspectives. I have started to question my own judgement after reading on here again!

I agree I'd like to see some news on the liquid cell. Perhaps some forward thinking company could sign an agreement for some as a kind of stop gap before the solid cell is proven/available. It's still a hard decision to make when it is still cheaper to run conventional methods, the governments need to press in new stricter emison rules etc. It seems to me in the UK, you can make your company appear green with an advertising campaign showing some smiling families, a load of corporate voice over about a better world, and boasting about installing more ev chargers than ever before. I still believe there is a market for it, I'm certainly eager to find out what it may be.
