That semi cast tweeted something like this.....
THIS IS SPECULATION: Qualcomm takes exclusive license for eye gaze tracking in smartphones. Gives competitive advantage over Apple and Samsung. @seeingmachines is funded to profit with a steady royalty stream.
Qualcomm
The leading maker of chips for mobile phones used its time at CES mostly to talk about its efforts to sell more chips in cars, particularly for self-driving vehicles.
Qualcomm introduced a set of chips for handling autonomous driving duties called the Snapdragon Driving Platform. The company also announced a service called Car-to-Cloud that will make it easier for automakers to send software updates to vehicles wirelessly.
Qualcomm, which is already a leading provider of chips to power infotainment systems in cars, said it expected its auto segment revenues to grow from $600 million last year to $1.5 billion by 2024. Qualcomm currently has annual revenue of around $20 billion.

Press Release
European OEM to showcase Seeing Machines DMS Tech at CES
LAS VEGAS - 8 January 2020 - Seeing Machines, an industry leader in AI-powered driver monitoring system (DMS) technology, has collaborated with BMW Group to integrate its FOVIO driver monitoring technology into the BMW i Interaction EASE. This integration will be featured at CES 2020 at the BMW booth Tech East Outside Area.
The BMW i Interaction EASE leverages Seeing Machines' technology as a component of their innovative HMI (Human-Machine Interface) concept, visualized through a windshield projected Head-up Display (HUD).
Further, Seeing Machines' SVP of Fleet and Human Factors, Dr Mike Lenné, will be conducting daily presentations on BMW's CES booth from Wednesday through Friday. Dr Lenné will demonstrate the company's approach to driver monitoring technology through the lens of Human Factors Science, its role in developing Seeing Machines' core technology and its ability to enhance safety and convenience features in cars.
Seeing Machines' FOVIO driver monitoring technology uses advanced machine vision technology to precisely measure and analyze head pose, eyelid movements and eye gaze under a full spectrum of demanding lighting conditions, including through sunglasses. This data is processed to interpret driver attention state, focus, drowsiness and impairment levels to provide advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) with critical inputs in real time.
DMS technology is set to become standard in most modern passenger cars for improved driver and semi-automated driving safety given recent direction from the European New Car Assessment Program (NCAP), the European Commission and the National Transportation Safety Board, and in an effort to curb distracted and drowsy driving and improve safety for pedestrians and passengers alike.
Seeing Machines CEO Paul McGlone commented, "BMW has continuously made passenger safety a priority. Seeing Machines is delighted to continue our partnership with the OEM as we drive improved safety across the industry with innovative driver monitoring technology."
Seeing Machines continues to grow as an automotive leader in DMS technology, having recently expanded partnerships with existing OEM customers.

The reality of legislation across Europe is setting in
I’m really still not convinced we will see self driving soon but this gives various governments an insight of what is actually achievable
Long live DMS imho

1,250,000 million deaths on the roads EACH YEAR
If you equate that to plane accidents that’s over 4000 plane crashes EVERY year can you imagine the outcry ? I can’t believe it’s taken so long for this safety regulations to become law
The road safety guys must have had some powerful lobbyists I hope they’ve run out of brown envelopes :)
Some fantastic posts on here today great info about CMD
