This board gains imaginary traders every week. It is such an odd mental divergence that leads to people living in fairly tales. Oh well. Will leave Sean to imagine some more sub-£k profits whilst presumably doing some am-dram in his remaining spare time.

Just to be clear Sean, is this you admitting you made up your trades? Because you haven't actually said it in as many words and I think people here will only respect you if you 'fess up. That is the single easiest call out I've ever made. Always worth checking you're not talking to the person who actually made the trades you're trying to lay claim to! Muppet. 1) Sean lies about a trade

2) Sean messes his pants when he realises he has been very easily caught out by another trader

3) Sean tells some more lies and then tries to deflect

And before fort or someone else chimes in with 'tell this to xxxx' (major or II who is invested in Ecuador) as if BHP/Chinese investment in Ecuador denotes certainty about the future, I will simply say this: those investments in Ecuador are as speculative as any of ours, even though the numbers are in the millions (unlike any of us, except red and his wife with their $30m+ investment! Though I think, if memory serves, BHP used real dollars, rather than monopoly money, hey red?)

Clearly he hasn't read the China FTA details that we have now. Ecuador is seeking to become a net exporter in several new areas, but at the moment it is not ranking ore/concentrates/refined as a top priority. Shocker, this might be because of its lack of operational mines! So solg, BHP, whomever can say what they like at echo-chamber conferences, it will be the people who decide by way of election. And polls suggest there isn't a huge appetite for mining currently, even if fort (a small time mining investor/gambler) thinks it is their best way forward! This will evolve over time, no doubt, but beware the ramper who draws a straight line between what they see as an opportunity and what will actually happen in the future. Politicians are slippery, and will kick the mining can down the road if opinion polls tell them to: make that the next guy/gall's hot potato to grasp.

Would be interested to get the chief fantasists take. Like fort, he often listed BR amongst a group of big investors who were 'proof' that solg was a sure thing, and that any doubts were unfounded. Along the lines of 'you may not think there will be any CA for ages but clearly BHP, NCM, BR etc think differently'. So does BR leaving mean we should be worried?

The strat review will be hamstrung by the same thing that has done for the 'sale tomorrow's crowd for years. Far from multiple bidders, we don't have a single buyer. Name a company with deep enough pockets and I'll tell you why they won't bid any time soon.

Yes, political situation is a killer. Will be a skilled leader who can balance the views of a group ready to riot for their rights against the needs of an economy with few other big-ticket options beyond mining. FTA with China would suggest agriculture rather than mining, but this will also meet opposition when land use conversion is required. Obviously I'd prefer the FTA covered copper concentrate rather than tinned fruit, but perhaps the omission of most articles relating to mining confirms what a hot potato this is in Ecuador. Wish we had some options in Oz or similar!!

Thanks 2Luke, I'm glad you believe all that. I don't think local attitudes to mining will impact federal-level license decisions in the next year. We may not have indigenous people claims on cascabel, but with an election coming up it would be a brave candidate who actively provoked more of the riots we've seen. I think we'll see no movement in the mining sector until parliament returns to normal.

Not surprised to learn that fort doesn't understand inflation. Inflation figures can drop, but prices will still be 5-10% (his estimate) higher, and even if inflation drops to 2%, that's an extra 2% on costs that are already 10% higher. That's the nature of measuring inflation on a year-to-year basis. The damage of inflated costs to our CapEx is already done. Unless copper leaps up by the same margin, those costs reduce IRR. Does he think lower levels of inflation mean costs drop?! He's either thick or disingenuous - make up your own minds.

BBG, who are the derampers working for MMs, and who are the holders with a less positive view of the current state of affairs? It would be good to get your definitive list. I see one or two clearly out for their own ends, but also a lot of LTHs who hate how much they've lost at the hands of new management in the last few months.

Fort, can you point to any exploration licenses that have recently been converted to exploitation? If so I really think that would shatter the argument that is being made here.

Always the same. Someone tries to inject some realism to the discussion and fort goes off on one. He defaults to telling people they are not invested, and should sell up. Riddle me that one... They knew the SP would never hit £1, surely. Red may be a fantasist (city worker who doesn't understand A trades and gets excited about Christmas day trading in Canada? I think not, my friend....), and bubble is a simpleton (literally just the same 4 rampy catchphrases on repeat, trying to get attention from those he admires), but both knew in their heart of hearts that no one was going to pay £2.5-3bn for the licence holder at cascabel. Fort can scream 'tier 1' until he is blue in the face but a plot of jungle in an unstable jurisdiction isn't worth more than £1bn of anyone's money, eg 33p a share. Imagine trying to explain that you'd bought a dodgy PFS for £3bn to your shareholders?! You might as well tell them you've bought some magic beans...
