It took me a while to figure it out.

Before I started using Technical Analysis, I just used to guess the share movement - like a game of Brucies Play Your Cards Right.

Then, an absolute sterling poster on this site (JMO) explained how you'd eventually come a cropper and why TA worked for him.

After experimenting with different TA tools, I now use Fast Stoch, RSI and MACD to help me find the right BUY and SELL prices.

It worked for JMO and it has worked for me.

Youtube has lots of good (and bad!) videos on these. I will try to find some for you.

There's a drop down menu bar:

Click on [Lower indicators] then scroll down and there is [Fast stochastics]

I only invest when that indicator hits 0 (BUY) or 100 (SELL).

This is supplemented by using the Relative strength index cutler.

Technical Analysis is adversely affected by major news, for example, Brexit news and this is reflected in some of this weeks charts.

I am not investing until things are more stable.

JMO and Billy are wise. I am new to this.

On Thursday, the Fast Stoch hit 0. Strong Buy Signal. The share price was 685.

On Friday, the Fast Stoch hit 100. Strong Sell Signal. The share price was 700-715.

Ifonly - Billy is right.

I just reviewed the chart and it's not as clear as I thought it was.

I suspect this is because of the uncertainty of Brexit.

When the Fast Stoch hits around Zero it's a strong buy signal.
When the Fast Stoch hits around 100 it's a strong sell signal.

At the start of the week TA worked and you could have made about 4.5% - it dipped to almost 0 = strong buy signal. Then, it hit 100 = strong sell signal.

At the end of the week TA stopped working - as Billy said external news interferes with results.

JMO was the man to ask!

Click on [Upper indicators] then choose Bollinger bands from the menu.

Click on [Lower indicators] then choose MACD, and the others I mentioned.

Click on 1 week view.

Then click on Bollinger Bands (Upper Indicators menu) and MACD, Fast Stoch and Relative Strength Index (Lower Indicators menu).

You will clearly see the relationship between:
(1) GVC share price going up and down.
(2) The TA indicators. TA is still working for this share over the past week. You could have sold at the highs. Currently indicating a strong buy.

I think there are people with Big Money in the US and UK who want to shift the direction of society. Social Darwinism, etc.

Billy - Agh now you've got me.

I checked the recommendations for LGEN on HL recently but now there is a wider spread of opinion.

They steadfastly ignored EVERYONE else and stuck with their guns for over three years.

I think the broker was Cazenove.

I never touch gambling, retail or anything outside the ftse 250.

You could trade your way out or wait.

LGEN - On paper, this is a great share. Excellent results, excellent dividend policy, excellent board, etc.

It promptly tanked after I purchased it. The share price NEVER reflected the excellent results or broker recommendations. There was only ONE broker that spotted it was a turkey and advised to sell.

Ifonly - I am still down 6% on KAZ. On other occassions when I took a hit I traded my way out. At the moment this is difficult. But each time I turned it around, ifonly.

You can and will turn this around. We have all done this :-)

The Dow is currently up but the price of Copper is down.

What would happen to the markets if Mr Orange was impeached?

If the possibility of a No Deal increases, the markets will reflect this.

Gradually or suddenly.

Craig - If you're still in Kaz - watch the price of copper.

Kaz is a faster moving share than GLEN.

As soon as the Fast Stoch indicator touches 95-100 I SELL.

The signals are usually much clearer but the uncertainty over Brexit...

The Kaz board is very vanilla.

Craig - I use simple technical analysis. Specifically:
1. Bollinger Bands.
2. Fast Stochastics.
3. Relative Strength index.
