An AGM is a simple routine matter for which, under normal circumstances, there is little reason to delay until the last moment. Directors usually have the date in their diary months in advance and it's regarded as being pretty much cast in stone. So what's going on here?
If you think about the Resolutions which are presented, they are not likely to be controversial. Sure, we had the Mather issue a few years ago and last year the pre-emption rights question was tabled, although in the end it was passed easily - no doubt the result of pre-meeting lobbying of the major shareholders.
So why the delay this year?
Are they hoping to get positive news out beforehand, such as more drilling results or the CIPA? But these don't require shareholder approval, so is there something coming our way which does?
All will be revealed in the coming days, but fingers crossed for something interesting being tabled.
