Personally finding out that Indian oil company with a tie up to Mongolias new refinery are exploring oil and gas opportunities in Mongolia, with a possible partnership for upstream growth is hugely exciting.

Mongolia meeting in April, they want Petro China oil production increased but their 20 year old oilfields are played out.

Recent news has said Mongolia’s oil production has fallen 14% this year, just when Mongolia need to be increasing production as the refinery needs 30,000 bopd to run at 100% capacity, same article states Mongolian oil production is currently around 16,000 bopd.

Facts.

We know Mongolia must increase oil production for the new refinery that is being built, new completion date is 2028 but Mongolia have stated they want it ready by 2027, it needs 30,000 bopd to run at 100% capacity, Mongolias current oil production is around 15,000 bopd, recent article states Mongolian oil output has fallen 14% this year.

We know a pipeline will be completed later this year, it runs from a few miles from the Heron field upto the new refinery.

MATADs Heron field is located in the south Tamsag basin, Petro China oilfield is adjacent to the north, Petro China have been drilling in this field since 2005 when they bought the field from SOCO for $93,000,000, all PCs best prospects in the north have been drilled and many of their hundreds of producing wells are coming to end of life, to-date these wells account for nearly 90% of Mongolia’s oil, they are desperate to get their grubby hands on MATADs oilfield to the south (Heron field).

Would the Chinese play nasty and hire BASHERs to help bring down MATAD sp, you bet they would, maybe not employed directly more likely through some shady UK trader company.

Heron Block XX farm out discussions continue. Petro Matad also continues to make progress with its Heron field (and wider Block XX) farm out process. One potential bidder is now undertaking detailed due diligence and commercial negotiations, some of the players below.

Another “possible” in the race is Gobi Terra (UK) Limited, they have just completed a farmout with Elixir Energy Limited earlier this year, they are run by Mongolian financial guru BAYANJARGAL, Byambasaikhan, he has been involved in some of Mongolias largest energy/mining deals including the Rio Tinto mine.

The three most important updates from todays RNS in order of importance.

1: 11 months after starting production at H1 no pressure boundry encountered = reservoir is HUGE.

2: H1 well performance to date when compared to data the Company has for other wells in the basin indicates a pressure profile similar to some of the BETTER producing wells in Block XIX = H1 production equals Petro China higher producing wells.

3: Petro China / tax issue nearing completion, we should soon start being paid 100% for our oil, plus the back payments.

TT, a beam pump is nowt more than a motor and suction cylinder (bit like a syringe) very little work to refurbish or maybe even a poor choice of words, might it be a service as one would expect on any piece of kit that has been lying about for months.

Fact is the previous RNS states pumping inject fluids out by month end, should take around 4 or 5 days to suck out the 640 barrels of injected fluid (not 640 barrels acid), as we near the end of removing the fluids oil will appear and with every beam pump stroke more oil until we are pumping oil /gas only.

Would expect injected fluids will be evacuated by 4th or 5th October then we keep pumping/sucking ie pumped tests, we will know by mid October the daily bopd delivered by the pump.

They are refurbishing the pump because this is what they do, as stated it will stat onsite assuming the well goes into permanent production, refur is a couple of days, beam pumps are pretty basic pieces of kit.

Renewables projects continue to advance: Petro Matad also continues to progress its

various Mongolia renewables projects, via its SunSteppe JV, moving these closer to

construction-ready status. For the green hydrogen project at the Oyu Tolgoi copper mine the

feasibility study for the initial demonstration project was completed earlier this year; the

Choir 50MW/150MWH BESS project continue to be progressed; and Petro Matad is also

working up two additional renewable energy projects - one a 1.5GW project focused on

exporting electricity to China (work on land acquisition is due to start in partnership with

Chinese utility SPIC), the other a 200MW hybrid wind/solar project which has a PPA in place,

and which SunSteppe now has under exclusive agreement. Forward costs are relatively

controlled as SunSteppe goes about securing the relevant land, permits, and PPAs for the

projects, with the potential for early monetisation once all this is secured and the projects are

ready to construct.

The renewables projects are moving forward at different rates, but we believe the earliest one

of them could get to ready-to-build stage is 2026, and at that point Petro Matad could

potentially look to sell its interest for cash. This would not only realise revenues for the

company, but it would also demonstrate the SunSteppe business model and the value to the

rest of its project portfolio. We await further news on this, as it could represent important

value for the company for which there is nothing in the current share price

Heron-2 flow testing ongoing, Gazelle-1 and Gobi Bear-1 operations upcoming. Petro Matad

recently announced that, post a successful acidization job, the company is installing a beam

pump at the Heron-2 well to complete the flow testing, and potentially bring the well

onstream. Results are expected before the end of October, and we believe that on success

Heron-2 could add around 50bbl/d of production for Petro Matad, all commercialised via the

existing PetroChina offtake route.

 While it continues its Heron-2 activities, Petro Matad has now moved its workover rig to

Gazelle-1. The flow testing programme for this well is expected to start shortly, and conclude

by the end of October, with equipment to bring the well onstream on success also being

sourced. Gazelle-1 is a discovery well drilled by Petro Matad in 2019 (not progressed at the

time due to land access issues), and we believe this could potentially add production of

around 100bbl/d for Petro Matad on flow testing success. We await further news here too.

 Post Gazelle-1, Petro Matad then plans to flow test the Gobi Bear exploration well, which was

drilled in 2024 and is now being flow tested on the back of additional post-drilling analysis.

Gobi Bear-1 has a P50-P10 resource target of 55-92mmbbl, and a successful flow test could

help prove this up as a new, significant field for the company. There is hence large upside

potential for Petro Matad from the Gobi Bear-1 activities, representing an important catalyst

for the shares in the coming months.

Heron Block XX farm out discussions continue. Petro Matad also continues to make

progress with its Heron field (and wider Block XX) farm out process. One potential bidder is

now undertaking detailed due diligence and commercial negotiations, with other potential

bidders also at an earlier stage of assessment. Achieving a farm out could be very significant

for Petro Matad, as it could potentially fund a new multi-well development drilling programme

on Heron, which in turn could significantly increase production and provide the cash flows for

the field to then fully fund its own development. Fully developing Heron would represent

material value realisation for Petro Matad, and we hence await further details on the farm out

process with interest.
