Equally with Roses, not having a go but:
You have said that your average cost of your 250K holding was 13p.
If you sold 50K shares at 27.7 you made a profit of GBP7,350 realised
You then had 200K left which at 23p gives an unrealised GBP20,000 profit
Plus 10K purchased at 22.75 meaning a further unrealised GBP25
So it looks like you have made a realised and unrealised total of GBP 27,375 in total as at a close of 23p. Still pretty good though.
I only know your numbers because you've often quoted them so I hope my memory is ok and that you will take my comment in the spirit that you took Roses' calcs.

Yes I can see that would happen if there wasn't any further leeway in their book so I would guess that had you looked for a 100K bid you would have ended up on quote and deal.
Was a good call anyway with the way things are maybe you will get a better price than you got quoted today tomorrow morning! Let's hope so.

Just out of interest (and if I'm being nosey just say so) but could you have done the whole 100K on auto when the 50K bid was available?

Sometimes its easier simply to sell at the bid rather than getting the order worked if the market is moving fast. presupposing that is that published bid is not too far away from where you want to sell.
There was plently of demand in the market early, in fact the bid was there for 150M+ in excess of 23.4 at one point this morning.
Having said that at least you did half the order at your level. Well done.

Wasn't certain I'd disagreed with you .
I mentioned Calculus in my 17.57 and in my last was discussing the comparison of that fund against Woodford's blatant disregard of Portfolio weightings and risk aversion techniques.

Calculus had to sell some of their holding in the early days to restore their max holdings in such risk intense investments as Scancell once their ratios went out of kilter due to Scancell's phenomenal rise. As a result they realised substantial profit for their investors and lived to tell the tale as Scancell submerged itself to a low of 3.5p?.
Compare that with the over investment in illiquid shares (as well as the non compliance I understand that existed) that featured in Woodford's portfolio towards the end. Those remaining Funds were still providing Woodford with management fees were being taken as the funds and caught investors were financially paralysed awaiting the final winding up at massive losses.
The Calculus model to me shows not only prudence but to see a fund (and its investors) benefitting from Scancell's early performance in 2013 whilst so many were trapped in a falling investment until last year (seven years of going the wrong way). That leads me to believe that the top slicing of profit due to preset portfolio spread and exposure ratios is a great way to benefit from an unexpectedly great performance from a stock exchange investmant. It did not stop Glencross getting annoyed at Scancell's (lack of) performance by 2017 (i think) when poor old CH turned up and failed to deliver on his suggestion that things were soon about to happen for Scancell.
None of us ever gets it all right (on either side of the Share investing fence) but Calculus certainly had something to crow about to their investors both in 2013 and again soon hopefully, when Scancell deliver the promise the science has always suggested.. That to me is clever fund management and shows that maybe taking some out when you are way ahead is not a bad idea!
Apart from that I agree that Scancell looks very interesting on a seventeen month view. Or hopefully sooner. Who knows?

Vulpes and Redmile are completely separate corporate entities and so their combined holdings are irrelvant in the context of the takeover trigger.
Don't forget the CLNs re Redmile.... they can convert and trigger (if they wanted to) the takeover requirement, but that at the moment would be a strange thing for them to do. Also do not forget that the CLNs (that both redmile and Vulpes hold) will need to be redeemed in Nove 2022.
Would not worry too much about Calculus. Have a look at their history re Scancell in 2013 (I think).
They did very well out of the early runup in the Scancell Share price and all to maintain their required ratios..
I'm not sure that anyone wants to perform badly capital wise, but as you imply the corporate Investors are those who have - or should have - investment disciplines imposed on them to (hopefully) prevent any over investment in unsuitable or inappropriate holdings (Mr Woodford)!

perhaps not, I was just wondering whether any of the Products in the pipeline thusfar had produced any positive cashflow for Scancell in the last twelve years or so.
I don't know why I thought there had been, but what I thought I had read was all a long time ago now.
I appreciate that no product has got beyond phase 2 trials bu any kind of licensing or income would have been helpful.
I will look later on, but I'm probably wrong! :-(
