Buy the rumour, sell the fact relates to company announcements and achievements.
For years there's been announced intentions (selling the Company in 2012) New Platform Moditope (same year) Sale of Company at Multiples of current SP, Breaking into US, Glymabs etc...etc... Precious few facts came out of those, but now we're getting some Facts to go with the rumours (announcements).
Since there's likely to be a plethora of announcements (with Facts from previous Announcements (rumours) likely to begin flowing thick and fast) the SP will not necessarily be reacting to neatly presented Rumours/Facts ant any one time.
Should the Facts become regularly supported by further Rumours (Announcements) of other Platforms' progress successes) any return to the buy the rumour sell the fact is likely to become less effective should the Facts become as good as hoped for as each Platform's results mature.
There will not be an all finalising Fact in any of the Platforms for a long time to come, so the Rumour / Fact analogy could still hold good....EXCEPT Scancell isn't a one trick pony and Facts are likely to be coming thick and fast in the not too distant future which is what makes the situation ongoing from here such an unusual prospect.

One of the oldest adages in the Trading book, but isn't bad advice.
That said Scancell holds sufficient promise over so many possible products that the number of facts following the rumours might create price confusion.
So maybe simply holding is a realistic situation now.
Probably the first time in ten years that that has become a viable proposition.

Frankly if nobody can understand why (in my view) posts on a very specialised forum should not be taken (probably without the author's permission) and then reproduced and discussed gleefully on a forum for Investors in the Company running the trial, then there is very little understanding of the underlying reason the forum from which the item was (so far) stolen is made available.
I sincerely hope that people using this rather private revelation try to think again and understand for many reasons why it might not be a good idea.
I still believe the thread should be removed.

Purely a personal comment but I'm not sure that the link should be discussed on this forum. I think it should be taken down and information from Scancell should be the best discussion points.

No offence taken, and it would have surprised me if you had (really) forgotten the dilutive effects of subsequent Share Issues! ;-)
I was simply making the point that the comparison might have been a bit premature, but believe me I'll be very happy to see 64p !
Was interesting to see where various prices put us in MCap terms, it's starting to look very interesting.

I suspect that Calculus (if it is - as seems likely - them selling) I'm sure are doing it a s a matter of prudence for their own reasons. They will be securing a good profit and releasing funds that have been a drag on their performance for years.
The company have been very good to Shareholders here over the years and I completely agree with the poster earlier who mentioned the possibility that they are positioning themselves for future opportunities for their funds.
Don't forget they have never sunk us but always sold into strength (they of all people are probably well aware of Scancell's potential (and have been since 2011/12) or maybe even earlier.
Like you Chester I'd prefer they weren't doing it but better now than later.
From their point of view, "A bird in the hand"....?

MCap as at Aug 2012 (using the shares then in issue of 194.47m and SP of 64p) GBP 124.46M
MCap as at today (Using shs in issue of 815.22m and SP 17.5p) GBP 142.67M
MCap using current shs in issue 815.22 m (All time - intraday - high of 64p) GBP 521.74M

As an Estimate of all time MCap high I'd guess at 228.87M when 27.5p was traded (I imagine around the intraday high of Falsedawn's 11.29 post.

So in comparison we are progressing upwards and that's to be expected. Looking at 64p is unlikely as yet (until some further deals and Data are announced>

Things will never be quite the same as the heady days of 2012 when all sense of reason deserted SCLP holders when the Serendipitous announcement was made.
I can live with massive sales into good news.
Clear the overhang and then we should progress a little further than we have.
Might take a bit of time though, but progress we will with the right News!

So we agree that more sellers than buyers equals a share price fall.

Calculus don't account for the very tight range for most of 2021. Remember how few shares Vulpes had to buy to steady the ship during that time?
They, to the great delight of some holders certainly "controlled" the SP on at least two occasions.
As I mentioned before it's certainly something that can and does happen.
It's a market occurrence which is far from unheard of.

Couldn't agree more with the concept that more buyers than sellers equals an SP rise with the converse also being true.
Taking that one stage further and over an extended time period, someone or a very large holder of shares in a relatively small Company can very easily maintain the SP at any given level for only a small relative expenditure of shares. Equally the opposite is easily achieved.
So why would any holder (or group of holders) want to keep the SP depressed?

Not for one minute do I believe that the market was in equilibrium for that length of time. There's a few interested parties with a great many shares who are quite capable of keeping this share happily moving between two points for almost as long as they like.
I did wonder if yesterday's news would be enough to keep it out of the lower teens but so far that wasn't to be.
The Gap at 13.4 hasn't been closed either so there's another possible control point that could be ustilised to engineer a significant jump at some future point (although keeping it open wouldn't be difficult either.
Anyway, looking for logical movements is a bit of a mug's game (but it'll make a few bob for anyone who GUESSES it right) while we wait for some more Data/Deals. However we look at thing no buyer wants to pay more for their target company than they have to!
Anyway, I'm sitting quietly waiting for the Data that we all hope will provide the price stimulus that we all wait for.

Bluntly, no.
I think both departures have been completely predictable.
I would say that RG deserves a bit of peace and quiet and his current position was always going to be temporary.
JC has seen the arrival of the Company's first significant deal and can now retire from Scancell on a high.

I think what we need here is a calm and gentle rise into expectation of the next results .
I have said before (after the arrival of RM) that I believe Scancell has become an investment and yesterday's RNS simply endorses that view.
OK there will be opportunities for trading a proportion of one's holding (if that's what you feel like doing) but to me technicals (always worth watching) are now superseded by fundamentals (which certainly look as good now as I've ever seen them).
The exit of RG and JC are understandable, but not earth shatteringly significant in the overall scheme of things Scancell.
I don't believe that the RNS this morning was quite the downer that some say. I think there were positions in place that were playing to the techbicals and I guess that the RNS today helped those along.
Will the Gap to 13.4 be filled? Who knows, BUT for longer term value I'm not so sure that the last 1p on a trade is now quite as important as the longer term potential. I've seen many lose significant medium/long term opportunities whilst waiting for the last few points on a short term trade.

I do very much agree with your comments on today's RNS.
However, I look at that in the context of the Gap opened up by yesterday's opening. Just below 13.4p trades would close it and to me it seems helpful that a potential breakout gap yesterday has been turned into a relatively easily filled situation which seemed pretty unlikely yesterday morning. The closure of that gap would take away a great deal of uncertainty in the coming months.
If it is filled maybe it could easily be another great achievement for the departing Chairman?

TF If there was someone it would be sensible to announce the replacement at the same time. I'd bet a great deal that they haven't got a replacement but it might be easier to recruit now. Why wouldn't you announce now if it was a done deal?
