The report from 1995 also covers some of the targets in the Paterson Range East and also the Budgiedowns prospect that belongs to RIO just to the North of Havieron so it's well worth a good read through!

Right here is the text from the last paragraph of the Newcrest report from 1995

Notice how the report says that 10/15 g/t Au is considered to be "Moderate Grade" and further down it says there would be difficulty locating high grade (+20 g/t Au) at such depths.

Also the last sentence where they recommend that Havieron NOT be forgotten.

Obviously back then they must have had such good deposits that their definitions of High Grade were a lot greater than they would be today.

In summary, at Havieron, the 1991-1992 and 1995 drilling has
suceeded in demonstrating the likely presence of a large gold-enriched
mineralised system, hosting, at least in part, moderate grade (10-15 g/t Au) +
sulphide bearing hydrothermal breccia and vein style mineralisation, albeit
beneath +420m of post-mineralisation cover.Given the igh degree of difficulty
of locating high grade (+20 g/t AU), structurally and lithologically controlled
zones beneath such thick cover, it is recommended that exploration of this
prospect be deferred (but not forgotten!) until other, shallower targets in the
Anketell project area and the broader Telfer District have been tested.

Did you look at the Newcrest report from 1995 that I shared a couple of months ago. Here it is again.

Read specifically the conclusions in section 6 especially the last paragraph - I'm sure Newcrest had a good idea of what was down there even back then but with new modern techniques, a more favourable gold price and of course a big greedy mine (Telfer) that needs higher grade NOW is the time.

Somebody at Newcrest should have kept the licences current & renewed but you know what corporate entities are like and to our good fortune they surrendered it and we eventually picked it up.

Would the ground GGP have be valuable just as a package to sell on to supplement the adjoining tenements or would we have a holding big enough to support our own iron ore mine if the grade is there?

Sorry if it's a dumb question but I've never even looked at iron ore mines and as I'm stuck on a 12 hour shift at work it's hard to do any research.

I've always liked the look of Scallywag from day one and even more so after the original MMI survey.

I can understand totally why they have gone to Black Hills first but Scallywag with its near surface targets looks very appealing - but hang on we may well have 2 majors proving up Scallywag for us indirectly so it makes perfect sense to concentrate elsewhere for now.

Yes mate I spotted that a couple of weeks ago but forgot to colour those tenements in when doing my map.

I might re-visit and revise at some point - at work today so only access is on the phone.

Interesting comments this morning from Orion about the Panorama licence - I have a feeling I know him from some of the posts on Hotcopper.

There were some comments from a poster on there called Black Cat who was impressed with the initial results. He knows his stuff......

You've seen my post on the AZY BB as I saw you liked it. I was hoping that Salpetie might give us some of his valuable insight now that we know "some" of the assays from Newcrest.

What do you make of the RIO / Newcrest tie-up speculation? Do you think of might be a possibility?

Liked all that era but I was more of a U2, Simple Minds, Waterboys sort of fan.
First concert I ever went to was U2 in Croke Park 1985 Unforgettable Fire Tour- still get shivers when I think about it.

I listen every week to the weekly wrap-up with Eric. I have a question about a small explorer in based in Australia who is listed on the AIM in London – Greatland Gold - GGP.L

Sprott Equity Research issued a research note on 14th January about their Havieron project in the Patterson region in Western Australia. Since then GGP have announced a farm-in agreement with Newcrest but I wondered as Sprott had done the research note whether GGP were on Eric’s radar at all?

Listen to the webcast from 14.28 in - Craig asks Eric Sprott specifically about Greatland and he replies that he's never heard of Greatland - it's an Australian company that he's never looked at..... Do we believe him children!!!!! even though his company have done a research note on Havieron which they called a sister deposit to Telfer ---- Lol.

Well I'm sure if he's telling the truth he'll be researching GGP over the weekend..

Just looking at the programme for the conference and it's definitely a who's who of the gold mining industry

Did you guys see my post earlier about the Diggers & Dealers? Any chance that any news might be released there or is it purely a bit of a p*ss-up in desert?

I was just looking at the presentations from 2018 to see when it might be likely that Newcrest would be doing their next one and last year they presented at the diggers & dealers in Kalgoorlie.

I checked the diggers & dealers website and sure enough Fraser MacCorquodale, their head off exploration, is due to give a presentation on Monday 5th August @ 3.20pm so not too long until we hear a little more from Newcrest.

I wonder if the outstanding assays from HAD011 will be available by then.

Looking at it now - if RIO were to swallow up Newcrest as was intimated by the analysts earlier in the year then they would have control of pretty much the whole Paterson province from Winu in the north down to Telfer and beyond (perhaps!!!!)
