You're right kieffy about Newcrest having history in the area (and I hope you are right about the 17p target also).
For anybody who hasn't seen the Newcrest report from 1995 that I managed to get from the Australian Mining Website then here is a link to it again - it's interesting reading and there are reports in there about some of the targets that we have in the Paterson Range East so it's well worth spending some time on.

I would draw your attention in particular to section 6 - the conclusion - see below.
6.0 CONCLUSIONS
Exploration activities to date have shown the Havieron tenement to be the most prospective for gold and copper in the Anketell tenement group. From the drilling done to date, it appears the mineralised system may be as large as 500m north-south, with the east-west extent at least 700m. Whilst the high grade intersections are deep and difficult to correlate, it is possible that a large (Newcrest corporate target size) gold-copper orebody exists.
Additional step-out drilling to the east and west of the existing drillholes would lead to a greater understanding of the prospect, and may lead to the discovery of further zones of mineralised breccia.
The other magnetic targets drilled in the Anketell group have been found to be due to lithological response, rather than due to sulphide accumulation.
Other untested magnetic targets still exist in the Anketell tenement group and as many of these targets appear much shallower than Havieron, say <100m, they may be worthy of follow-up.
A future approach to exploration of the Anketell tenements is in the process of being formulated. In summary, at Havieron, the 1991-92 and 1995 drilling has succeeded in demonstrating the likely presence of a large gold-enriched mineralised system, hosting, at least in part, moderate-grade (10-15 et Au) + sulphide bearing hydrothermal breccia and vein style mineralisation, albeit beneath +420m of post-mineralisation cover. Given the high degree of difficulty of locating high grade (+20 g/t Au) ?structurally and lithologically controlled zones beneath such thick cover, it is recommended that exploration of this prospect be deferred (but not forgotten!) until other, shallower targets in the Anketell project area and the broader Telfer District have been tested.
I'll repeat the last sentence again -
it is recommended that exploration of this prospect be deferred (but not forgotten!) until other, shallower targets in the Anketell project area and the broader Telfer District have been tested.
(BUT NOT FORGOTTEN) - as kieffy says Newcrest have history here.
