Watching my father grow old has taught me that its hard to anticipate what you will need in the last years. It is therefore impossible to give everything away before you die and still remain secure.

As for Lloyds, Im not in this for retirement as I am still a working man. Its to try and pay off my mortgage. I figured everyone who can will prioritise that before anything else so it was worth buying into UK biggest mortgage lender. When you think of all the people like me hoping Lloyds will help put a roof over their head, we become quite a big population; employees, investors and mortgage borrowers, soon to be renters.
Investing in Lloyds seems to require unending patience but I agree with you. I also think that one day it will recover and we will see much more than 50% upside from here. Might take five years though :)

You could take it to mean it needs to go up by about fifty per cent from here to reach its pre-pandemic levels. It seems harsh to hurl insults over it.
Chips is tuned in to life's great unfolding. I don't think he/she/they are here for pedantry or decimal places.

It matters to the boy named Sue who may choose to make it clear whether they want to be addressed as he or she or they. Employers the size of Lloyds don't have much room to argue if they want to look like fair recruiters.
Why that information needs to come first, before the customer even explains why they are there is something that eludes me so far. I cant quite see what it's all for, people can call themselves what they like, it's really not my concern when Im paying in a cheque. I suppose the counter argument is it's supportive of the boy named Sue if everyone does it, not just Sue.

No. You do have to "help Britain prosper" though and all that is packaged up in respectfully positive portrayals of diversity and sensitive attention to gender politics.

So far I have resisted the increasing expectation to express ones preferred pronouns at the end of a work email signature. Im 55 and tbh I think it's a weird indulgence. It would probably all seem fine if I was 25.

That might be an expensive promise but is impossible to prove. Honestly, the good thing / bad thing argument has been done to death here. People remain divided, some like yourself with quite strong conviction beliefs.
I share your frustration but the buybacks are one of the few positives for me. The other positive, its dividend, now goes out of my ISA towards my mortgage rather than being reinvested in Lloyds. I wish to hold but not increase. Paying down debt has to be prioritised at my age.

Maybe they were all initiated as buys? The SP spend most of the day 0.5p higher than it closed. Also someone posted a good explanation here of how they are confined by some sort of moving average that Im not sure I understood at the time and now have completely forgotten.
Oh well. Maybe they will ramp up purchases when it goes ex div. Would be cruel to see the SP rocket halfway through.
