What you talkinaboutWillis? Is irony lost on you? I cant afford any more and I certainly wouldn't be buying at 50p, as thats a lot higher than my average cost. I hold tens of thousands (not hundreds), but its still a big chunk of my overall investments. So Im not loving today, or the budget prospects next week.

Wouldn't that depend on what your intention and purpose was when you bought them? I would not sell unless I needed to realise some emergency cash, because I want to hold something with long term growth potential that pays out a reasonable dividend. They are a good fit so far. But reasons for buying LBG are quite varied and seem to be peculiar to each persons age and appetite for risk.

After this mornings initial positive reaction, it's a pity to see all of the gains have disappeared and we're now back in the red.

Fair point, I guess what I really meant was I didn't realise they could spend any less than the £2B commitment made in the buyback announcement. I thought if they committed the money for share repurchases, they had to spend it all on share repurchases. Thats why I always laugh at Asp 1 who wants the remaining money paid out as a special divi :)

Debt as a % of GDP reduced steadily under both Labour and Conservative Governments between 1945 and 1990, because the UK economy was in growth. I suppose we can acknowledge she inherited it at 39% and resigned when it was lower at 22%. Not enough for me to forgive her for the first time, let alone want a repeat of it. I didn't think you were bothered in the slightest whether national debt was 50%, 100% or 200% of GDP?

It can be helpful in exceptional circumstances (e.g if someone is already unwell) in order to understand cause. Earlier this year I was admitted into a respiratory ward and swabbed. Results were negative for coronavirus but positive for rhinovirus (common cold). In my case, pneumonia had developed from an acute upper respiratory tract infection spreading to the lower tract; not as a result of getting sick with covid-19. This knowledge is useful because it helps decide on treatment pathways. It also informs staff who have to make decisions about donning PPE as well as assess the level of risk presented to other patients.

So it's a time lag, where fixed investments they made at higher interest rates will start forming an even higher percentage of their income in 2025, because so far we have mostly had the benefit of previous investments made when rates were lower. Even if they only maintained 2022 earnings from loans and mortgages, their 2025 income could still be as much as £2B higher. All sounds good to me.

LSE's coverage of the Jefferies update included comments the broker made "while TNAV will 'accelerate hard given the largest CFH reserve unwind in the sector". Moreover, "the hedge should ignite in 2026".

Can anyone help me by translating this into simple English, or is that just not possible? I have tried, but it loses me. I am guessing it means Lloyds will do really well if interest rates fall next year. Possibly better than its rivals, so dont panic Mr Mainwaring - is that broadly about right?
