My "business" is whether I believe you are a credible poster, or a total fantasist. Your reluctance to share any details of your overall wealth, while making a claim to have a big stake in Lloyds, just doesn't add up. I come here to learn about investing, not for the company. Affordable to rent generally means about 80% of market value. Affordable to buy generally refers to shared ownership with options to increase/decrease share. You did completely ignore my previous post, but after all, I just made the point originally that 10p an hour was good value for an organisation trying to keep management actions inside legal boundaries in the workplace. The Nordic countries are an example of high living standards correlating with high union membership. But they are not direct cause and effect. Are you seriously trying to suggest that Cuba's problems and poverty results from workers being unionised? For goodness sakes.

I'm a Unite member. I dont earn any more because of it. My subs are £15.90 per month. This work's out at a cost to me of less than 10p an hour. I see that as a very small price to pay for the support that is available to me individually, as well as the representation they provide for workers collectively. The older I get , the more workplace mistreatment I see, the more I encourage fellow workers to join a union. It is the best use of £15.90 per month and I am not sure what you are getting personally from posting exaggerated anti-union messaging.

Is it the fact that Sharon Graham is a woman that is the problem for you? You seem to imply her salary is overinflated. It is less than an Executive Director in a Local Authority receives and is small change compared to her equivalent role in a private sector national company. She launched two independent investigations into Len McCluskey's authorisation of £98million Unite funds to build a hotel in Birmingham. It is valued at £28million. The contents of these independent enquiries were never made public, but instead referred the matter to Police at the end of 2022 citing "very serious concerns about criminality".

It's a common mistake that people miss - the local government pension scheme does depend on a saved pot of money, you will have noticed in the news Reeves wants to see them all amalgamated into one huge pot. The NHS pension scheme does not have a huge pot of money, but pays out pensions to retired staff from receipts gained from current contributions. I believe you are correct that Civil servants pensions do not have a pot of money behind them and do cost the taxpayer. It's an important distinction to note that civil servants are part of the public sector, but it is incorrect to label all the public sector as civil servants.

I think thats a very naive comment. I dont know if it's deliberate to provoke yet more political debate, but you don't make any effort to frame it with any relevance to lloyds shares or business. As far as I understand it, Starmer thinks IHT is the key to reducing the inequality gap between haves and have-nots and the ideal opportunity to redistribute wealth. The idea is you wait until someone is dead, then steal 40% of their assets and say that belongs to the state. No, it doesn't matter how many times you already paid tax on that income when you were alive. The offspring then say thanks very much Kier, we are much nearer to the have-nots now than we would have ever been without you. We know our dear parent would have been overjoyed to see the state benefit as a whole from their lifetime of hard work. Well done for engineering such a fairer society.

I didn't get offered at below £2.25, plus it doesn't take much to scare me off! I went for ORIT instead. I already hold some LGEN and a lot of LLOY, so I felt happier moving away from financials this time.

Had its year low at £2.03 last October, and yes it got briefly knocked down this month to £2.15. That was on "American bad news day" though (which also brought Lloyds down to 54.5p) Tomorrow is interim ex div for LGEN and I was hoping to get in at £2.25 or lower. If not I might pass on it. It isn't a very imaginative choice, but Im stuck for alternatives.
