Agree he's a buffoon but in this instance he appears to have half remembered something that actually happened. I would have thought if it had meant that much to him he would never forget it was from an Argentinian air attack and not from a submarine. I think he just told the story for effect.

It is already a mess. In the UK, flying insects have reduced by 60% in the last 20 years. In 2022, the UK woodland bird index was 37% below its 1970 value. Can you guess which way it will go in the future?

That would help enormously, but to achieve that quickly requires a global humanitarian disaster. Projections suggest a natural reduction of 1 billion people will occur every one or two decades from 2100, but only after first reaching a peak of around 10 billion people.

The USA is the largest consumer of meat. Some of the biggest drivers of deforestation are to enable the production of beef and animal feed.

I posted very recently that carbon capture is pointless and just serves to legitimise continued use of fossil fuels. I am not sure why it was deleted, but posts are removed every day with no explanation. I mentioned that Drax would be popping champagne corks.

Are you seriously suggesting that anthropogenic climate change is a conspiracy theory?

Are you in denial that the earth is warming at all, or are you an attribution sceptic who admits the earth is warming but insists it is due to natural causes?

It will certainly have a major influence in the long term, but global population control is not something anyone can exercise. If the third word developing countries continue to increase education standards for their women, then family sizes will eventually reduce. But population levels will make absolutely no difference at all to achieving any of the urgent short term reductions needed. Only a massive shift away from meat farming, major restoration of habitats and total abandonment of fossil fuels by China, USA, India, Russia and Japan gives any chance at all. I am not optimistic any of that will happen. I expect to see warming of 2 or 3 degrees exceeded before I die, with significant marine extinction. Population control will become even more important when we have climate induced migration and disrupted food supply, but it is far too long term an influence to make a shred of difference to our chances of keeping within 1.5 degrees.
