Yes, I agree, I think thats an important point to remember. Everyman and his dog appears to be offloading Lloyds this morning, CBG also down. If there was a balanced judgement handed down later on, Monday is just as likely to see a buying frenzy. I'll have eyes on the Dow at 4.35pm to see what impact it has on Lloyds ADR trading, may give us an indicator of whats in store.

Interesting to read the comments at the end of this article. Not all, but many, believe dealers cannot have a fiduciary duty to people who are primarily buying a car from them. Caveat emptor - the fact they agree for the dealer to also arrange the finance doesn't change that. The buyer has a duty to do their own due diligence. Nonetheless this is Lloyds, so even the most positive outcome will probably see the share price crumble. How long will we have to wait until we see 80p again?

To be fair Chid, you're an endless poster of doom who never sells their shares and when questioned why you say you dont need the money.

Hard to understand what you're getting out of this. You enjoy the dividends, the massive share price increase and you continue to hold. But you're never happy?

That is correct. I just made the point you can sell on ex div day and keep the dividend, even when the record day is a day later.

I didn't make any comment on buying, but clearly buying on ex div day means the dividend stays with the seller.

I checked this one on the phone with HL. Their advice was you could sell on the ex div date and still receive the dividend, even when I specifically stated the record date was 1 day after the ex-div date, using Lloyds as an example. They had to put me on hold to check with their supervisor, but they came back saying the same thing.

They have done as much as they can in mitigation. For the truly determined they can buy Lloyds ADR shares on the Dow Jones, as soon as the judgement is live streamed. Anyone thinking of selling has until 4.29pm Friday, or Monday at 8.00am

Yes it is, in that it's unique. It has never happened before.

But in the context of much anticipated consequences for the banking sector, it seems a wise precaution. It will ensure there is time to understand and digest the judgement. Nonetheless, I imagine there will be some volatility at Mondays open.

Most times Ive withdrawn the lloyds dividend in cash to pay down debt.

Agreed, I am also jittery but seems foolish to sell now, but it could be either bad or horrid on Friday. However, bad is already factored in.
