These giants of the budget travel industry have all experienced significant turbulence in their Yorkshire markets since 2017. Monarch and Thomas Cook have collapsed completely.
Ryanair have recently announced the withdrawal of several flights and destinations from Leeds Bradford, while Flybe has pulled its Dusseldorf route and abandoned its other Yorkshire base, Doncaster Sheffield, completely. TUI also confirmed a mass pull-out from Leeds Bradford, with package tours departing instead from Manchester and Doncaster Sheffield.

Sitting calmly among this chaos in the terminal is Jet2, the airline and holiday operator founded in 2002. It is the main carrier flying out of its home base of Leeds Bradford, but has expanded to several other UK airports and has a significant presence nationally and in the European holiday resorts it primarily serves.

While rivals have floundered, Jet2 has grown in stature and seemingly weathered the economic storm that has engulfed the low-cost travel sector.

With the amount of expansion going on at Jet2, Dart shares could easily double over the next 10 months IMO.

Jet2.com has released this statement following the purchase of Thomas Cook’s UK slots at Birmingham, London Stansted and Manchester Airports.

Jet2, which now operates all year around to Majorca, has also announced that it would be starting the season earlier in Minorca.

Usually you can hear a pin drop at Palma airport from November onwards. The island goes into its winter siesta with most hotels closed and few flights. But not this year. When I travelled across to London on Sunday I was amazed to discover that the airport was very busy and not just with domestic flights. Jet2 now operates a winter programme to the island and the airport was packed with British tourists.

There's cutthroat competition in the air travel and holiday market. Weaker ones keep collapsing or being taken over by their rivals.

DTG has thrived in this environment and is likely to do so in the foreseeable future IMO.
