And the Germans
Yanks say they got one that works.
Busy at our place Friday evening. Failed by more than 100 yorkies. No shortage of staff as any sick is covered by agency. Letters is back to normal also. Extra letters been posted covers any not. Lots of card factory and schools posting work to students for example. Don't knock letters. We make a lot more profit from letters than parcels.
It's quite possible that things will never be how they were. If a vaccine can't be created and one only gets temporary immunity even if one survives then probably 50% of people won't live beyond the age of 65 and 90% of us won't live beyond 75. Life expectancy in the UK is around 80 but less than 100 years ago life expectancy was mid 50's. This will have a massive impact on society. These are things that we need to think about.
Redceo, always with the name calling. Mad, I don't see any point in Rico coming over here. Let him stay where he is. What purpose would it serve?
It will get worse, especially now that we are handling all those used C19 test kits.
Postal tests for NHS staff go out next week. Have to be processed within 48 hours to be reliable though.
Antibody test could prove the best way out of this. A vaccine is still at least a year away but it's maybe that a vaccine can't be found.
Must be a Man U fan. Doesn't live in Manchester then.
Lol. Maybe camouflage next.
Switched from red to grey, why?
Thanks. So we can now take unpaid leave? Having a few health issues myself I'm not sure if I should take a few weeks unpaid.
Maybe when this is all over the government could mint a gold coin and gift one to each key worker. Or maybe a special stamp for RM employees.
If management know that any employee on long term sick can be furloughed. Could save them some cash.
I don't see CWU ever getting on with Rico but I don't see a strike now either. They have to get it in by August or they will have to ballot again. After all of this trouble many posties won't have much appetite for a strike. I know I won't.
That's one of mine but feel free to use it
I here that some online retailers are selling a lot of the weird stuff thst they have been stuck with for years. Apparently one side effect of having coronavirus is that folk have no taste.
It's all tracked parcels at my mail centre.. not sure what the margins are though. I have been told that we lose money on over sized parcels. My response was why don't we put the price up then?
Deaths seem to be under a thousand a day and those are from people who contracted the virus before the lockdown. We know that it is highly contagious so if we take a hotspot such as London which has had about 3000 deaths it may be that half of its 9m population have caught the virus already which gives a death rate of about 0.067%. way below expert predictions. The idea of the lockdown isn't to stop people catching the virus it's to make sure that they have a ventilator free when you do catch it to give you the best chance of survival. If 50% of Londoners have already had the virus then we will see another 3000 deaths in London once the lockdown is lifted. So it's pointless really as the only way those 3000 can be saved is with a vaccine which is still 18 months away. A vaccine might not be possible anyway. They have pumped billions in to finding a vaccine for HIV over the last 30 years and haven't found one. A total lockdown won't save a single life but it will cost many. Those with serious health issues can make their own choice.
Studying how it has played out in China it seems to me that things aren't going to be as bad as the experts have predicted. It must be the case that many more people have already had it than first thought and that most people get mild or no symptoms. I think things will be back to normal in a month. The market will boom in summer imho.
