Meta's most famous AI researcher Yann LeCun now says that everything, everyone knew and believed about AI chatbots is 'WRONG'

The technology behind ChatGPT, Google's Gemini, and virtually every AI chatbot flooding the market is fundamentally broken and will never achieve true intelligence, according to Yann LeCun—the pioneering researcher who helped invent the neural networks that made them possible.

In a scathing rebuke of his own employer and the entire AI industry, LeCun says the hundreds of billions being poured into large language models represents a historic miscalculation, one he's now abandoning Meta to correct.

I think Open Ai went too far last week getting reigned in quite abruptly by the US administration, the thought of being 'backs topped' by the US taxpayer is inconceivable imo..just shows how these tech bros think..

Even with all the deals so far Open Ai is still has a short fall of around $1.1 trillion in funding according to various estimates, what now?

Plus you have the Apple news which looks to be correct, both of these events should be enough to draw a line in the sand in terms of realignment to normal market parameters..

Spent part of the weekend listening to the R & D update as opposed to just reading the presentation, its hard going at well over an hour but worth while as plenty of detail to unpack.

I'll post up some talking points a bit later, but for the moment I am sure this quote will resonate with many shareholders..

The other thing which stood out were the three analysts asking questions whilst congratulating the company on its progress, maybe reading too much into that but seemed positive at the time.

Interested to hear what Josh makes of these new developments with Mars, I particularly value his view as he covers a whole slew of food and beverage companies so pretty neutral on things..

Apple are in a unique position even ahead of the Ai players in terms of what people actually want v what Ai platforms want/need to sell us, the fact that their latest offering doesn't have Ai beyond Siri is quite telling imo, adopting a wait and see approach perhaps.

Maybe this is why, recent survey from CNET:

'A CNET survey finds that just 11% of US smartphone owners choose to upgrade their devices because of AI features, a 7% drop from a similar survey last year. Further, about 3 in 10 people don't find mobile AI helpful and don't want to see more features added. '

Things are changing so fast within the Ai market its hard to keep up, latest developments in the US are rising electric prices due to shortage power plants and water,even in Nvidia’s hometown of Santa Clara has two massive data centres stand idle with various estimates on when they will actually start -

It could be 5 years away by which time the hardware will be out of date.

The 6th Nov presentation has a good amount of detail reflecting the recent up beat tone of press releases, HMPL-A251 and it counter parts seems to be a game changer even with this early pre-clinical data, results with combo therapy are encouraging too.

What are folks thoughts on the low level toxicity of ATTC, will this help with eventual signing off by regulators perhaps even fast-tacked.

Addressable market for A251, A580, A830 is huge, but market remains unconvinced ..?

Whats interesting about the Apple move is how Third Avenue (S4's largest fund) predicted this in their June news letter to share holders, admittedly not Apple per se, but the concept of Ai being commoditized much in the same way as broadband or cellular from dot com era.

It might have been their March newsletter, but quite a call if it materialises..

Pleased to see we actually moved up yesterday, maybe a bit of that old Ingenuity good news rubbing off this way..

Even the US is waiting for budgie the budget, also BoE before next move there too- really need rates to come down hard which the budget may trigger..

Things could change quickly with some unexpected surprises, like the rumour of Apple ditching their own efforts in favour of adopting Googles Gemini.

If correct, it could signal a reduction in the all out race to have your own LLM which for the most part are very similar in output, Apples move to license the hardware/LLM but put Siri on top is a marked change in strategy.

Many other companies will no doubt be watching the final outcome, but if correct we could see a sharp reduction in Ai CAPEX and even some consolidations in that space.

Bench marks between the various LLM platforms show small differences but the cost of licensing versus developing your own model are poles apart, Apples rumoured deal is expected to be around $1b per year, contrast that with building out your own model and data centre.
