It makes you wonder though why more funds didn't average down when they were much lower. I think the reinstatement of a dividend may have given funds greater confidence going forward and the cash balance has de risked the investment decision.

I think it is fair to say that the price should be over 100. The broker recommendations have been cautious and overly pessimistic in some case which have proven to be wrong. Just as well we didn't take their advice and sell in the 20's...
I feel a lot more confident going forward with a strong cash balance and improving diamond market. It's time to literally put your feet up and relax and look forward to the next major find as it will be a Brucey bonus and you never know that the bod may just decide that they want to reward shareholders with a special dividend.

You won't have to wait that long Morgan22 as this looks like it will be the subject of a takeover approach. That probably explains why the hedgies have been brought in to quell the share price to make a potential offer look good as it would appear rather foolish to short at this level. I doubt they would have much luck under 850 but interesting times ahead here. It's a strong hold for me as the market hasn't realised the true potential here.

I think the dividend is a good start and is something to build on. It also leaves options for share buybacks and special dividends.
As far as I am concerned GEMD is a good recovery play with the potential increase of diamond prices.

I did notice the PDL targets Usernamebut1. PDL is a much trickier company to value mainly due to the debt which is pretty colossal. Having their level of debt in a falling diamond price environment was unfortunate. If the diamond prices continue to improve they could be a good recovery play. I shall wait and see for the time being. Fortunately I put my money where my mouth is and bought in here and was lucky enough to get a decent holding in the 20s and 30s and have continued to add since.
I do feel sorry for PDL holders and hope that things improve for them.

Have a Buy on GEMD and an 80p target. Still shy of what I think the company is worth but still this is an improvement on their 26p target back in September. No doubt this target will rise when they pull up some biggies.

A very good set of results which I feel judging by this mornings trade is not fully understood my the market. A very welcomed dividend to boot.
With regards to broker notes I would hesitate caution and would question their rational to their suggested targets. In my book this has to worth at the very least 100 and with good fortune a bit more with some large finds.

A decent and fair article by Edmund Jackson was sent after market close and he recommends a Buy. Considering he is a contributor for II, one can assume that a few investors from II will take note and buy.
Also on this site they have the figures from Credit Suisse in reverse. The old target was 350 and the new target is 540. These figures are often used by services which go into their algorithm equations. Have a good weekend all.

Well if you don't ask you don't get, it's better to be upfront and honest in my book. If you feel they are milking the company you should tell them that directly. Fortune favours the brave after all...

It would appear that the majority on this board are either shorts or disgruntled shareholders. If you are in the latter camp I suggest you air your concerns to the company as after all if you are a shareholder they have to listen because it doesn't augur well if they only listen to the demands of a few especially when some of them will have their own agendas.

It is literally money for nothing being a non exec for a company of this standing. I have a larger shareholding than all the bod bar Clifford and I would do the role for free as I have a vested interest for the success of the company. It really isn't a good image for a company to be perceived as a cash cow for the bod. This is an area the bod really need to have a close look at.

I apologise to you Username. I agree that with offices it's best to have them in prominent areas but in all fairness they do seem to have a lot of offices for what is at the end of the day a one mine company. This is why GEMD is very vulnerable to a takeover as there would be no need for 6 offices, strip this cost and associated costs and the bottom line becomes fatter.

I agree that when they reinstate the dividend it should be continued and be a percentage of profit etc.

Have they moved the head office as it was just around the corner from Sloane Sq. I know what you mean though about miners with Mayfair offices as often some are huddled together and are very leaky...

It could equally be a tree shake to unnerve small investors to sell before the final results which will more than likely mention the word dividend. Reinstatement of a dividend will induce fresh funds to invest here.
The share price shouldn't depend on large finds but they are more than welcome as they have bolstered the cash balance and more large finds will enhance this. Lets face it GEMD has a history of finding some amazing stones and this isn't going to stop and there is nothing to say that they can't find even more spectacular stones than already mined. In my mind the company is worth far more than the market is giving it credit for. If the market can't see it a predator will...

Keep the faith Dave, there will be some decent finds soon and its usually like waiting for a No.9 bus, you may have to wait for a while and then 3 will come along. If they go back into the 40's I will pick up these by the bucket load.

Well if they do find a stone of 500ct's and above the share price is hardly going to stand still is it or isn't common sense going to prevail? As it is the company is already sitting on over $30m. If anybody really thinks that the share price will stay the same with a potential cash balance higher than the mkt cap is delusional. This has been and is being shorted. They got it right with PDL but their luck has run out here.

I wouldn't be surprised if the crew which shorted PDL had a crack here too but things didn't go as they expected as they most probably thought that the mine would be shut down due to Covid but in fact it carried on and produced some crackers which has resulted in to a healthy cash balance. It can't be too long before they discover some more great finds and if they discover a stone larger than 500ct's then this will rise substantially.

I think its imperative that the bod either declare a dividend or a share buyback as they have to look after their shareholders as well as the other stakeholders. Without shareholders the business wouldn't exist which bod's often conveniently forget. Once a dividend is declared this should attract new investors. Maybe the acquirers of Ghaghoo were considering buying the whole company especially when Covid struck resulting in a depressed GEMD share price. The sale process has taken an awfully long time and you have to ask yourself why?

Probably not too long to wait for a few more large finds. I remain hopeful that the bod will at long last give something back to shareholders be it a dividend or a share buyback or a combination of the two.
