EXECUTIVE CHANGES: Northern Bear adds former RBC, CS bankers to board

Thu, 11th Nov 2021 15:41

(Alliance News) - The following is a round-up of London-listed company director and manager changes announced on Thursday and not separately reported by Alliance News:

----------

Northern Bear PLC - Newcastle Upon Tyne-based specialist building and support services company - Hires Harry Samuel and Anil Khera as non-executive directors, starting immediately. Both are bankers and real estate experts, Samuel having worked at Royal Bank of Canada and Khera at Credit Suisse Group AG. Back in August, Steve Roberts resigned as executive chair of Northern Bear, and the company promoted Jeff Baryshnik to non-executive chair. It said at the time that it would recruit two more non-executive directors. The company also had said that John Holroyd intended to retire from the board, which it confirmed on Thursday.

----------

3i Group PLC - London-based private equity investor - Promotes Non-Executive Director Lesley Knox to senior independent director, replacing David Hutchison, who becomes chair, both from Thursday. 3i, which reported interim results on Thursday, also had said Finance Director Julia Wilson will retire at the annual general meeting in June next year, after 15 years with the company and 13 as finance director. Wilson will be replaced by James Hatchley, who is currently strategy director. Hatchley will join the board in May. He joined 3i in 2017, having been chief operating officer for peer KKR & Co Inc in Europe.

----------

Hays PLC - London-based recruitment firm - Hires Joe Hurd as independent non-executive director, starting December 1. Hurd is a US-based lawyer who founded and still leads Katama Group LLC, which advises start-up companies. Hurd also served in the administration of former US president Barack Obama. He currently is a non-executive director of Trustpilot Group PLC and was a director of GoCo Group before its acquisition earlier this year by Future PLC.

----------

Polar Capital Holdings PLC - Hires Laura Ahto as non-executive director, starting on Wednesday next week. Ahto retired this year as chief operating officer for Global Asset Servicing & Digital in New York for Bank of New York Mellon Corp. Finance Director Samir Ayub will join the board at the same time as an executive director, having joined Polar Capital in 2010 and been promoted to finance director in 2019. Separately, Polar Capital says two sets of preference shares have been crystallised by its portfolio managers. It says the crystallisations will boost earnings by about 2.2 pence per share, based on the financial 2021 results.
